A big hello from a new author!

This is my first time blogging for BookStrand, so please let me introduce myself. I'm Sandy James! I earn a living teaching in a high school where my students get to hear some of the funniest stories from the history of our great country as well as some of the strangest theories the world of psychology ever offered to mankind. Or womankind, for that matter. I've been married for over twenty-five years, and neither of us has managed to kill the other. Yet. I have two grown children and a Schnauzer who rules the house. I came to writing only a few years ago, but it has become my passion.

I stopped by to thank the BookStrand readers for making my first book -- Turning Thirty-Twelve -- the number one mainstream romance! I also want to thank the readers who have taken the time to rate my story! I hope you will also check out my "Damaged Heroes" when they roll into the BookStrand line up beginning in March!

Introduction

Well, I've meant to come out and introduce myself, but I've been so swamped I finally realized, ruh-roh, hadn't done it!

My name is Lesli Richardson, and my contemporary romantic novel, "Cross-Country Chaos" is under contract with BookStrand. It's not your typical romance novel. Kelly Alexander is a divorced mom of two boys. The younger, Denny, is eight and uses a wheelchair because he was born with spina bifida. In the process of getting him qualified for the Junior Nationals, she's introduced to handsome (and single) former Paralympian, Mart Rawlings. The question is, can Mart prove to Kelly that he's her Mr. Right and break through her wall of fear left over from a very nasty divorce to her cheating ex-husband?

It has love, romance, sled hockey, an ex-husband getting decked, and a cross-country trip drive from Florida to Washington state that would put any average person in the funny farm. What more could you ask? :)

As the mother of a wheelchair athlete, I wanted to write a book that would take the reader along for the ride and halfway through have them realize, "Hey, these are just REAL people like me." I've seen too many romance stories where the issue of disability is either treated in a "fluff" manner, or the writer flat-out got it wrong. (One book I won't name by a well-known writer kept referring to a man's everyday chair as a "racing" chair, proving they didn't do their research!) I wanted an accurate book that was also a fun read, proving that sometimes, the greatest disability is between a person's ears, not in their physical body.

I live in southwest Florida with my husband, son, and a houseful of misfit and neurotic animals. When I'm not writing I'm...well, I'm writing. *LOL* I'm lucky enough I'm able to pursue my passion for wordsmithing full-time now.

Stormy Glenn - Author Intro

Hi, I’m Stormy Glenn. Well, I did it. I officially signed with Siren Publishing for two new books: The Katzman’s Mate (M/M) and Secret Desires (M/M/M with the Ménage Amour new line). Both will be released early in 2009. I am very excited about working with the people here at Siren. They have been wonderful.

Now I just have to figure out what I actually know about myself so I can share it with you. I live in the Pacific Northwest with my gorgeous husband, six very active teenagers, two canine babies, two old biddy felines, and three fish.

I am addicted to reading. My husband often tells me that I am going to bankrupt us with my reading obsession. He doesn’t buy my jewelry for our anniversary. He buys me books. I keep a list on my computer of all of the releases of books I’m waiting for just for him.

I love writing almost as much as I love reading. I am amazed by the ability to create new worlds, old worlds, far away worlds. I have several books that I’m working on at any given time so I am never quite sure what will come out next. I’m even working on a sequel to Secret Desires right now. I’ll try to keep you updated.

Hi, everyone. I’m Rachel McNeely and a very new author for BookStrand. Needless to say, I’m excited about the upcoming publication of my book, Sandstone Legacy.
I’m very pleased to be a part of Siren-BookStrand as I have seen what wonderful growth they’ve accomplished since opening. My friend, Lara Santiago, has been writing for Siren from the start and is very happy.
About me, I live in Florida, am a native in fact. I’ve visited many places, including Madagascar, and in spite of the hot Florida summers, there is no place like home.
I’ve been writing on and off for years, but got serious about four and a half years ago. Sandstone Legacy is the second contemporary I completed, but I have also finished several regency historical manuscripts and love writing both.

Hello!

I would like to introduce myself to everyone. My name is Francesca Prescott and I live in a small village in the French speaking part of Switzerland. My first novel, “Mucho Caliente!, is a romantic comedy set on the Spanish island of Ibiza that will be published by Bookstrand in November 2008.

““Mucho Caliente!”?” I hear the Spanish experts among you squawk. “What kind of Spanish is that?”

Yes, I know that my title is grammatically incorrect Spanish and that something super hot would be described as “muy caliente.” I’m nowhere near fluent in Spanish, but that I do know!

My book is called “Mucho Caliente!” because Gemma, the main character in my story, is going to feel a whole lot of heat when she meets Emilio Caliente, aka “el divino,” on the plane to Ibiza. She’ll get so hot she’ll be molten, dizzy, ditzy and dazed. Way hot!

Emilio Caliente is a Latino pop star. Actually, he’s pop music’s Latino sensation, the ultimate superstar. His concerts sell out in nanoseconds. He’s cardiac arrestingly gorgeous, lusted after by women all over the world. He’s officially 27, legally 29. His almond shaped eyes are the color of warm caramel and edged with thick black eyelashes so long they shade half his face. He tans to that incredible, incandescent, gingerbread-amber color. His dark brown, sun-streaked hair is alluringly disheveled. Even his breath smells of cinnamon…

Perfect? Well, he’s pretty damn cute, although he does have a couple of blackheads on his nose. And hairy toes, as Gemma quickly points out...

Basically, Emilio could have any supermodel in the world. Why then does he seem so interested in thirty-seven-year old, recently divorced Gemma? And why the heck does destiny insist on playing matchmaker when common sense is urging Gemma to stay well away from Emilio Caliente? The last thing Gemma needs in her quest for a creatively satisfying, financially independent, bohemian lifestyle on a Spanish island in the sun is a love affair with a pop music superstar eight years her junior. Not to mention that Emilio’s life is in turmoil, his latest single has bombed, his record company wants him to go electro, the press want to see him naked and his hellacious manager seems not only increasingly deranged, but also fixated on plotting Gemma’s downfall.

With all that in mind, would you dare wish upon a Latino superstar on a beautiful Spanish island in the sun?

More importantly, will Gemma?

Win, Lose or Tie

Susan and I were having a drink in our local pub, The Flying Swan. Inside, it looked like a typical English pub. However, you'd soon guess you were in North America rather than my hometown, London, because the staff were polite and they served you at your table.

The server gave us our drinks and asked if we wanted to look at the menu.

“I just fancy a dessert,” Susan told her.

The server produced a dessert menu from the pocket of her apron. We both selected chocolate dishes with enough calories to sustain us into the following week.

When the server had gone, I opened an envelope I’d brought with me and extracted a picture of the cover of Win, Lose or Tie.

Susan studied it. “Yes, I found it on the coming soon page. Bit risqué, isn’t it?”

“Oh, why?”

“Looks as though Coming Soon could have been the book title.”

Susan had critiqued an early version, and suggested I doubled the length of the sex scenes. Or perhaps that was a statement about our sex life. She could be subtle at times.

“The woman on the cover is not an ex of yours is she?” Susan asked.

I almost said “I wish” but figured she might interpret that remark as a criticism of her. “I’ve no idea who she is. Our graphic artist, Jinger, found the photo for me.”

“Well, I must say the pose she’s striking guarantees that people will read the blurb,” Susan said.

Our desserts arrived. The server looked at the picture. “Coming Soon,” I said. She grinned then departed.

“What about the actual story?” I asked.

“I’ll give you the verdict later, after you’ve reenacted the re-written juicy bits.”

I sighed and diverted my attention to the chocolate mousse.

Susan picked up her spoon. “But I particularly liked the HEA ending. I hope that’s still intact?”

“Yes, and I added an extra page to it. In fact everything is lengthened: the ending, the sex scenes, and the hero’s…”

Hello! I'm a new author at Bookstrand, Tracy L. Ranson. I'm sorry it's taken me so long to do this but I just moved into a brand new home and the move about killed me. I told my husband that next time, we're hiring a moving crew. I'm not doing that again.

Anywho, I wanted to introduce everyone to my new book, PIRATES OF THE MIST. What woman doesn't love a bad boy pirate? Michaela Martin dreams of the pirate Tristan Hamilton, notorious 'Scourge of the Seven Seas' but never imagines that she's going to meet the handsome man in person, especially since he'd been dead for almost three hundred years. Thanks to the fog rolling in on Coral Cave beach the night of the anniversary of his death, her fondest wish has come true.

Jordana has been writing most of her life, but didn't decide to make a career out of her passion until about a year ago. Jordana has spent most of her life working with adults and juveniles in the criminal justice system, and those fighting mental illness. Jordana enjoys tackling issues that are sensitive and perhaps more emotional and feels fulfilled when a reader says her stories have touched them.

I've been writing for most of my life and my dream came true when I had my first book published in 2006.

Introducing Marisa Chenery

Now that I've officially signed my first contract with Siren Publishing, I thought I'd come over here and introduce myself. My name is Marisa Chenery and Siren is publishing one of my historicals called Lady Knight. It's expected to be released as an ebook in September 2008 and as a trade paperback in February 2009. I'm very excited about it. Lady Knight was the very first book I wrote, almost 12 years ago. So it does my heart good that Siren is willing to finally give it a home.

Discover Another Author & Silapa Jarun Intro

I'm in love with interracial M x M stories and ZACK AND THE DARK SHAFT by Gracie C. McKeever from http://www.sirenpublishing.com/ was exactly what I was looking for.

I found this quick read to be a fascinating take on the theme of sibling rivalry in the form of jealousy between twins and a dose of the paranormal to be a perfect balance with the hot scenes.

Zack and Zara have their eyes on the same man, Quincy Powers, aka "big handsome". Quincy however is a complex man who struggles to appreciate Zara and Zack as individuals because although twins their personalities are unique.

When Zara is given a second chance at life, she'll use it to pursue long-time friend Quincy using her sibling's body. It's up to the night club owner to find out what he really wants in life and choose between the two people he cares about the most.

Not only do I read M x M stories I also get a chance to escape by writing them!

I was immediately drawn to ZACK AND THE DARK SHAFT because I've always been fascinated with twins and their psychological and some say paranormal bond. I recently completed KATANA DUET: Samurai's Forbidden Love which is about identical samurai twins who immigrate to the United States in the 1870s only to find out that their journey begins and ends in their hearts.

The Matsumoto brother's relationship is contrasted with another pair of siblings, Klara and Konrad, who will stop at nothing to attain their own illicit love, even if it means betraying their foreign housemates.

I hope fans of mxm and yaoi who are looking for a dark and intense story will find this work to be memorable.

I'm Samantha, very proud Siren author. :)

Siren actually gave me my very first contract so besides them being absolutely fabulous, they also hold a very sentimental spot in my heart. I currently have five e-books and three print books available at Siren and plan on having many more in the future.

I was born and raised in Southern California and now live in the mountains of Virginia. I'm an out of control animal lover and the home schooling mom of two teenage boys. I'm also recently engaged to a wonderful man. I think this, despite the fact I still say he tricked me into going out with him. lol

I've written stories all my life, and especially love writing erotic romances, although not for the reason you may think. I'm drawn to this genre primarily because I can take my characters places mainstream romance won't let me. I like to torture my heroes, then tell stories about the healing power in love. In the erotic romance genre, I feel like I can be more real, even though I'm writing a complete fantasy.

And then of course there is the fact that I love to write sensual, explicit, moving love scenes. ;-)

Jenny Penn’s Intro

Hey Everybody!

Sorry to show up late, but my computer was feeling under the weather. I’ve nursed it back to health and am here to tell you about myself. I am new author, but a long time avid reader of romances.

I started reading romances as a teenager and have been working on writing one for just about as long. I’m pleased to say that Siren is going to change my title from writer to author in the fall when they publish my first two books, Deception and Mating Claire.

While Deception is a contemporary/ménage trios and Mating Claire is a werewolf/paranormal series, you’ll find that they have my love of strong female heroes in common. As much as I love alpha male characters, I’ve never been a big fan of weaker, shy female characters.

My preference probably has a lot to do with being raised by my mom, who is a very “take charge” kind of woman. My father is very much that way too, so you can imagine what it like when they try to work on things together.

Beyond the strong personalities of my characters, you’ll see my family influence in the dialog I write. My family has always been very close and we spend a lot of time just sitting around talking to each other. I’ve spent many years, working on writing believable dialog and (hopefully) have achieved my goal.

The last thing you’ll notice about my books is that they’re all set in the southeast. I grew up in Atlanta. After graduating from college, I moved around a lot. I’ve lived in Alabama (an area regionally known as LA), Florida and now reside along the southern coast of South Carolina (an area regionally known as the Lowcountry).

Other than those three things, you probably wouldn’t find much consistency in my writing. Outside of series, I enjoy reading and creating stories in all the themes erotic romance include. I love contemporary books as much as I love science fiction based stories. I enjoy long dramas and devour quick, light books with ease.

I'm a little late to the party, but I made it! I am a women's fiction and romance author, who writes books that sizzle. I love to tell stories about emotional journeys, characters who have strength and courage, and of course, steamy, hot sex.

I'm happy to be with such a great publishing house such as Siren, and with all the talented authors at both Siren and Bookstrand.

A little about me: Once upon a time there was a little girl who wanted to be a writer. Of course, I wanted to be a professional ice dancer, an Olympic gymnast, and a fashion model too. But once I learned I had no athletic aptitude and wasn't going to be six-foot tall and stick thin, my love for writing and books grew. I wrote anywhere and everywhere I could. But, for some reason in my twenties, I just stopped. Cold. Oh, I dreamed about it, of course, but my life seemed too busy.

Then I moved from Upstate New York to Dallas, Texas and met the man of my dreams. A true Southern gentleman, accent and all. He asked me out. I said no. Why? I was crazy, of course! Eventually, I gave him a chance (thank God!) and a year and a half later we eloped while on vacation in Colorado. He's truly my forever hero.

My desire for writing returned, especially stories of love and personal journeys, and now I can't imagine doing anything else.

My debut book at Siren, Going Topless, received several five-star reviews. It's the story of three women at a crossroads in their lives, looking for love, sexy men, and ultimately, themselves. For more info, click here.

Introducing Tonya Ramagos

Hello! I'm Tonya Ramagos, author of contemporary, vampire, and contemporary fantasy romances. I was born in South Mississippi and lived much of my life on the Gulf Coast (Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida). Then about a year and a half ago, I relocated to Chattanooga, TN. Though I was all but raised on the beach, I discovered it's the mountains that hold my heart. We even talked about moving back to Florida at one point but I just couldn't leave those mountains for the flatlands.

About family and hobbies... I'm a wife and a mother of 2 handsome boys, ages 7 and 13. Basketball has become a favorite past time lately, as has baseball, soccer. When you have 2 boys you learn to play the games I suppose:) My #1 obsession is reading. Well, okay, that's probably #2 as #1 would be writing. I enjoy all genres but really must have a good romance in there somewhere. I also like dancing, hikeing, and computer games.

I currently have 4 books available at Siren with 2 more coming soon. Siren is the home of my Heroes of Silver Springs series where you will find hotties from all the branches of public service: firefighters, police, FBI, DEA, and even Navy SEALs. This series is so much fun to write and I have fallen in love with all my guys who make up the city of Silver Springs. I'm thrilled with the response readers are having to it and plan to keep the adventures going for a good, long time.

Or should I say new website since it’s an entirely new site, just the same domain name? I had been making do with my page at Authors Den, but figured it was time I bit the bullet and commissioned a professional to build me a real author website.
