DREAM MATE

AVAILABLE OCTOBER 1ST

Katzman Warrior Trajan Varl was sent to Elquone by his friend, Chellak Rai, to find a doctor for his mate. When Elquone's High Ruler won't let the doctor, Saris, leave without a contract, Trajan has to refuse. His laws don't allow slavery.

The High Ruler then reclassifies Saris and he is taken away to be retrained as a pleasure slave. Trajan now has no doctor to take back to Katzman. More than that, Trajan suspects that Saris is his mate.

Determined to find out and bring a doctor back as ordered, Trajan breaks into the training facility and rescues Saris, spiriting him off the planet in his ship. When they are attacked, they take an escape pod to a nearby planet.

The emotions the mating cycle evokes in both of them threatens to tear them apart before they can even get together, and they are still being hunted. Can Trajan convince Saris to be his mate and save his life, or will he lose his mate before he can even claim him?

Wednesday's Words for September 30, 2009

Our living room is furnished in a unique style called Canadian garage sale. We bought the four pieces—sofa, loveseat, chair and ottoman—from the back of a hay wagon at a rural garage sale a few years ago. Rust colored semi-plush material covers them, and we bought them because there wasn’t a mark or blemish visible, and the price was right: fifteen dollars for the lot.

The sofa and chair they replaced and been gnawed on by my late son’s dog, they were ratty and torn, and so our garage sale special was a definite improvement. The only complaint I had against this set (and still do) is that it shows ever speck of dust or lint and so it needs to be vacuumed nearly every day.

My beloved (bless his redneck heart) was thrilled with the bargain, and warned me at the time (only half in jest) that since he’d just bought me a new living room suite, I ought not to go expecting anything else anytime soon.

Time passes.

A few weeks ago, Beloved announced that he’d like to look into getting a recliner. His back pains him from time to time, and he’s been having difficulty getting comfortable sitting on the sofa—which remains very comfortable, he claims, for lying on.

I told him I’d like a recliner, too. The garage sale chair, while still in fairly good condition, is a bit lower to the floor than I am comfortable rising from. Especially since I tore the ligaments in my right knee a couple weeks ago and have had to be using my cane all the time since.

So the decision was made that the Ashbury’s would be acquiring two new chairs. I was commissioned to go forth and search the local stores. “I’d really prefer to not pay over one hundred and fifty dollars per chair,” my beloved said as he sent me on my mission.

Yes, it has been a long time since he’s looked at living room furniture.

We bought that new bedroom set a couple years ago as you know, but we’re rather odd people. When we go into a furniture store looking for a particular thing that is all we look at.

I went into an international chain store that specializes in recliners. I got excited as I approached the store and saw the banner, “Huge sale on now!” Mentally rubbing my hands in glee at this fortuitous timing, I prepared to save money.
And then I stepped into the store.

Huge selection? Absolutely. Beautiful recliners? Beyond doubt. Excellent bargain at one thousand dollars (marked down from 1600)? Not to me.

I walked (with some difficulty) the entire store, my mouth agape. Does anyone actually pay a thousand dollars or better for one chair? Really?

The answer is likely yes, and you now have yet another example that Morgan is neither worldly nor sophisticated. I reported my findings to my beloved, and I can tell to you today that sticker shock is indeed a communicable disease.

We searched several more stores, finding chairs that were less expensive, but not by a whole lot. And then I read an ad for a brand new store opening up in the city next to us. We went in last Friday.

Our new chairs arrived on Monday. My beloved is very pleased with the look and the comfort of the chairs, and with the cost. I didn’t point out to him that we ended up paying twice what he’d originally set as the limit, per chair.

Some things are better left unsaid.

Love,
Morgan

Romantic Times gives four stars to 'Flavia's Secret'

It's a year since Flavia's Secret came out, so I'm delighted to find this in the November issue of Romantic Times:

'The ancient locale that is now modern Bath lends a vivid backdrop to a tender love story surrounded by mystery, danger and deceit. Readers will appreciate Townsend's thorough research and fluid style. Well-written secondary characters complement the action.'

Angelic Forecast ~ #56

FROM LAST WEEK...

I grasp a small section of his silky mane, so similar to the horses I’ve known, yet different, of course. The feeling is far more vibrant.
Where is everyone? I ask, since the great room is empty.
They frolic with the foals at this time when the light is favorable.
Suddenly the scream of a wildcat pierces the air around us.

TO BE CONTINUED...

I shiver involuntarily as the scream cuts through me.
Do not be frightened, Sarius quickly communicates. Hayly is fond of frightening our guests. She thinks it funny and smirks afterwards for hours.
“Hayly?”
She’s a gray tigress who has appointed herself one of our Guardians.
“Hayly doesn’t consider you her prey?” We move deeper into the Great Room. Awe becomes a tiny word in my mind as my gaze wanders over the sumptuous furnishings.
She feeds on manna, or the energy of prey animals.
“Like an energy vampire?”
No, she creates the manna with her thought. Sheep taste is her favorite.
“Is that how most of you eat here?”
We prefer eating the abundance of grasses and flowers who offer themselves to us.
Before my eyes a mansion-sized window appears. Frolicking below are other horses and their foals. My breath shoots inward and I feel my soul’s excitement and happiness. The scene looks all too familiar. “Another lifetime,” I murmur.

TO BE CONTINUED...
~~~~~~
The following week brings more turmoil into our lives. It could feel like forces are tugging at you from every direction. And they are. This turmoil may not show up in a personal way. If it does, however, one of the best tactics is avoidance, if possible. This is one of those situations that could resolve with the passing of time. Still, if the confrontation continues, tell your truth, then avoid the monster’s claws, so to speak.
The world stage will be dominant this week. The forces of darkness have made themselves known in the metaphorical style of STAR WARS. The Empire’s storm troopers have arrived and now is the time to love your freedom more than ever For it is the precious coin of the realm.
Blackraven interviews Laura Ashton
Guest Author in the Spotlight: Laura Ashton
Sharing Brenda
Sensual Awakenings 2
by Laura Ashton
Brenda has been through enough relationship drama. After her husband was caught cheating at their wedding, she decides it's time to start over. Brenda leaves her fast-paced city life behind to start over on a ranch in east Texas.
Part of her fresh start comes in the form of ranch hand Billy Joe Watkins. Brenda's taken with his gentlemanly, handsome ways. When she meets his good friend and fellow ranch hand, Salvador Rivas, the next day, sparks fly with his overly seductive nature.
Both admit to being ladies men, but claim their attraction and feelings for Brenda are sincere. They say they will do whatever it takes to prove to her they're in it for the long haul. Can Billy and Sal be trusted? More importantly, can Brenda learn to love again so quickly and easily?
Well ladies and gents, we've gone from Kathy B's. bull riders and the rodeo to Jasmine's Urban Cowboys and Brenda sharing two good ole' boys who admit to being ladies men.
Fallen Angel Reviews gave the prequel to Sharing Brenda 5 Angels and said, "Jasmine Urban Cowboys is a dynamite read...Laura Ashton awakens the senses and breathes life into the pages.
The Romance Studio also gave Jasmine's Urban Cowboys 5 Hearts and said, "The sexual tension was vigorous and frequent. This book is definitely not for the faint of heart...The menage was uninhibited."
You're gonna love this one.
But before we begin Laura, I would like to thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to join us at The Blackraven's Erotic Cafe. I must tell you! I've been waiting for Brenda's story every since I read Jasmine's Urban Cowboys, so I'm excited that it'll be released tomorrow. I've already pre-ordered. I'm encouraging everyone to pick up a copy of Jasmine's Urban Cowboys if you haven't read it because it's excellent and it gives you a little more insight into Brenda's situation. If you want to know more about Jasmine's story, the book is listed under my recommended reads on the side bar. Just click to read an excerpt. Now, without further delay...
Laura, tell us a little about yourself.
Hi everyone, I'm a fairly new author. Last year we spent winter in Las Vegas and this summer, we stayed in Prescott. Pronounced Pres'-kit. So, don't be surprised if I use those places as settings for my upcoming books. I lived near Dallas a few years ago, so that's why I used it as the setting for my Sensual Awakening series.
Having my book published is a dream come true. My first Siren Menage Amour release, Jasmine's Urban Cowboys, only came out four months ago and my second release, Sharing Brenda will become available October 2nd. I write about menages because, although I've not been fortunate to participate in one (one can dream, can't they?), nothing seems sexier or stimulates my imagination more than my heroine enjoying two or more hunky partners of the opposite sex. Grrrrrrrrrr!
My age is one of those things you need a government clearance to know. Although right now I live in Las Vegas, where I'd really like to live would be Santa Barbara. If I ever got to where I could live off my writing, I'd consider living there. Let's see, what else. I'm married to my second husband. Actually, hubby helped me quite a bit on the first book, but not the second.
Laura, I'm glad you brought that up. I've heard you mention that you had a Jasmine type of divorce with "husband number bye bye and that your current husband helped you quite a bit with Jasmine's Urban Cowboys. Would you care to elaborate on those statements any further?
Blackraven, have you ever heard of the term scallywag? That's all I'll say about husband number bye-bye. Ted didn't exactly help a lot, but he did let me know when my male POV was off and make suggestions. He doesn't particularly like me writing mfm menages. I see his point of view, but I'm not going to stop. You think he might shape up if I wrote fmf menages? (wink)
I know he would prefer it in real life. LOL.
ROFLMAO! I'm familiar with the term sacallywag Laura and you're correct, enough said.
Now I loved Jasmine's Urban Cowboys, but I must admit that I couldn't wait to see what was going to happen to Brenda after her character was introduced in Jasmine's story. So, tell us about your upcoming release, Sharing Brenda.
I'm sure you can tell from the title-Sharing Brenda-that we're dealing with another mfm. I can't tell you too much about the story, but I will tell you a little about the characters. Brenda's heroes are Billy Joe Watkins and Salvador Rivas, so I guess the story could be considered interracial, though it doesn't feel like it. Camilla is in the story as well. I actually modeled her after my favorite Aunt. Naturally, she is one of my favorite characters.
I'm sure you've been asked this question many times, but I'm going to ask it again. What inspires your writing and how do you develop your characters?
I've always liked writing. The interaction of words and phrases always fascinated me. About three years ago, I decided to see if I could write fiction. It took a year or two to learn the ropes. I started writing Jasmine's Urban Cowboys about a year ago and Sharing Brenda seven months ago. As for my characters, it seems to be the story that dictates what they're going to be like, not me. You might say I inject my characters into the story rather than build the story around my characters.
Now Laura, I know most authors have a ritual they go through before they can sit down and write. What's yours? Are you considered a storyteller or a story builder? Do you write every day?
I used to think of myself as a storyteller, but I've changed my mind. I now think I build a story, like building with blocks, layer by layer. Each layer on top of the last. I never box myself in on an ending either. Usually my endings don't reveal themselves to me until two thirds through the book. I get some great endings that way.
I must agree with you on that because I didn't know what was going to happen with Jasmine until the end, which intrigued me and held my attention. That's a good thing because I get bored easily. Great job!
Who are some of your favorite authors and if we were to visit your home, what books would we find on your bookshelf?
Confession time. Since I started writing seriously, I haven't read a full length novel. Prior to that, I read mostly authors with a humorous, or horror bent. Janet Evanovich, Carl Hiaasen, Dean Koontz and F. Paul Wilson.
Favorite books by them are: One for the Money, Skinny Dip, Hideaway, and The Tomb.
That's not a bad thing. Leah Braemel said she doesn't read anything when she's writing a new book. Now when she finishes a book, she reads a novel as a treat to herself for finishing a new book. Maybe you could look at it that way.
What author(s) introduced you to romance, but more importantly erotic romance? What intrigued you about their books and made you want to write erotic romance?
My first exposure to erotica was through and author named Dan Simmons, who's really a sci-fi writer, but husband bye-bye had an erotic anthology by him that was wild. After reading that, I would periodically gloss over his erotic anthologies.
I suppose Emma Holly was my main erotic romance influence, not so much for her stories but for her writing. I wish I could make sentences flow as she does.
How do you determine which love scenes to put in your books? Is it based on your connection with the characters, from personal experience or friends' suggestion?
All I can tell you is it's entirely spontaneous, like good sex should be. Let's see, in Jasmine's Urban Cowboys, there are six sex scenes. Two in a bed, one in a whirlpool tub, one in a bar, one in a kitchen and one in a hot spring.
Now for my favorite part of the interview. What does it feel like being a new author? What projects are you currently working on?
Being published feels great. I feel fortunate being associated with a progressive company, SirenBookstrand. I've heard horror stories about some other publishers. The promotion is daunting though. I can see where it's necessary. After all, if I don't tell the world about my books, nobody else will, but it's tedious and takes time away from writing.
I'm finishing up Victoria's Secret Life. After that, who knows. I have ideas for several additional Sensual Awakening stories. I also want to look into writing western historicals.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I don't seem to have a lot of spare time, but when I do, I read and if we have time we like to travel. Last weekend, we spent two nights at the historic Boulder City Hotel. We loved it. Other places we like to visit are Sedona, Grand Canyon, Jerome and Payson. On our radar is Bisbee, Taos, Sante Fe, Lake Tahoe, Virginia City and Biosphere, II.
You've mentioned that there's another story to be told in the Sensual Awakenings series - Vickie's story. Is this also a release we have to look forward to in the coming months? If not, when will it be released?
Vickie's Secret or Victoria's Secret Life, not sure which, is completed and I've been working the kinks out of it for the last two weeks. In case you haven't guessed, Victoria is Jasmine's matronly looking neighbor. I'm not sure when the book will be released. It may not be released until next year, but it will be worth waiting for.
Well Laura, our time has come to a close. It's been a pleasure having you visit The Blackraven's Erotic Cafe. Please feel free to come back anytime.
Thanks for having me Blackraven. It was fun.
STALLION OF ASH AND FLAME ~ Release Day
September 24th, Thursday, this is the magical day. The Stallion finally runs free and wild. My shapeshifter erotic romance, STALLION OF ASH AND FLAME has been released from Siren-BookStrand’s Siren Classic imprint.
9/24/2009 ~ the day breaks down to an EIGHT day in numerology. While the number, 8, is not considered compatible with my personal numbers, it is a good business number and could mean financial success. Well, I can’t deny that, can I?
Still, I’m looking at it this way. TWO is the number of love and relationships. I figure STALLION is ~4x2~ in the erotic romance department of love and sexy passion.... yep, hope and grinz.
~~~

Here’s the blurb ~

Drojovv Zyan of the V’Trailuc Realm is a man-stallion of ash and flame on a mission to save his world’s crucial Earth portal from the fires ravaging the National Forest surrounding it. Pretending to be the tracker, Trail, he settles in a small southeastern Arizona town. When he gets an eyeful of the beautiful ranch owner, Seneca, he stud lusts after the Earth human, a woman he’s not supposed to take as his Mate.

Do you like stories about Angels and Demons - check out PERFECTION

For as long as I can remember, I've been totally enamored with Angels and Demons. Movies like SPAWN (though not high on my list, John Leguizamo did a great job), CONSTANTINE, - and TV shows like Angel (though he's a vampire - angels and devils do appear in the show), Charmed, and my personal fave - SUPERNATURAL - all of which keep feeding my love of these incredible creatures.

Chatting on Joyfully Reviewed today about Angels and Demons - check it out: (Click Here)

My debut book PERFECTION, book 1 of my Eternally Three series, is all about immortals. I blended Middle Eastern and Western mythology where angels and jinn are locked in a invisible war with demons and ifrit. The immortals of PERFECTION (mfm) have a unique way to sustain their lives. Throughout the book we learn about the way this world works from the notes of Micki's missing brother. For example:

I've read until my eyes burn. It seems that immortals need humans for life essence. But it takes a triad, similar to the laws of electricity and the flow between positive, negative, and conduit. In this case, an angel, a jinn, and a human. If I try to tell anyone this, will they believe me?

Wednesday's Words for September 23, 2009

It doesn’t seem all that long ago that if I wanted to do research for a book, I had to go to the library. My library of choice was at McMaster University in Hamilton. I loved it there because there were so many books and so many great places to curl up and be alone with them. When I would go, I’d make an entire day of it.

Now, of course, we have the Internet for research. And while I miss poking my head out from my cave to actually experience fresh air and sunshine as I would if going away from home for the day, I have to say the Internet does have an advantage over libraries, hands down, for variety and scope of information offered, and for speed of access.

Research was a topic of conversation recently between myself and some of my non-writing friends. They wondered what I could possibly research since I’m writing in the times I’m living. I explained that there are any number of reasons to take time out and check your facts. I do some research for every novel I write. Sometimes it’s a small detail—like, do they sell popcorn at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto? Sometimes it’s something more in depth, like the species of trees populating the River Walk in Reno, Nevada.

Maybe I want to describe the scene on a particular famous street in some city. Often, you can find a site that features a web cam. You want to have your characters stay in a particular hotel? Go to that hotel’s web site and take the virtual tour.
I’ve also e-mailed people to ask them for information. These would be experts in their fields, be they university professors, city officials, or ranchers. I’ve only ever had one e-mail for information go unanswered. Usually, people are happy to help if they can.

I also have a couple of tricks I use to help me get my facts straight. One thing I do when I’m writing a story that takes place in two separate locales: I find an address in each locale, then MapQuest it. That tells me the driving distance and time. And sometimes, I go one step further.

I have the free “Google Earth” on my computer. And often, when I have my two addresses, and I’ve got the driving directions, I “drive” the route on Google Earth.
No, it’s not the same as being to a place, but it can still offer quite a bit of information—especial if your route features several of those nifty little “camera” icons. You get some sense as to the vegetation, topography and general look to a place.

Most writers I know take the time to check their facts. I do, not just because it’s in my nature to try to do it right, but because of my beloved.

Being a history buff, he knows his stuff, and nothing makes him madder than when he’s reading an historical romance (yes, ladies, cry your hearts out. Mr. Asbury willing and eagerly reads romance and has for years), and the author puts the wrong weapons in the time period, or gets some other fact wrong. He says when that happens, it pulls him out of the story. If it happens too often in one book, he won’t finish the book.

So I strive to get my facts straight, even if I do only write contemporary romance. And what a thrill it is when I do get it right.

One of the novels I wrote this year, Wanton Wager, takes place in Nevada, specifically, in Winnemucca and Reno.

I received a note from a reader who lives in Winnemucca, who wrote to tell me she really liked my story – and to thank me for doing my research and getting my facts right. I believe she even wondered if I had been to her area, which sadly, I had not.

My beloved got to have the final word on this subject when we were discussing it on the way home from work the other day. I said to him, “I think I’m always checking my facts because I’m so anal.” He said, “No, you do research because you’re a professional.”

What can I say? I just gotta love that man.

Love,
Morgan

My First Review!

Woke up to a lovely surprise today, Believing Is Seeing received it's first review!! I'm so excited, it's like release day all over again.

Holly from Whipped Cream gave it 5 cherries!!!

This is what she wrote...

"Amaryllis Bitonu has come back to be with the only person who has ever really cared for her: her granny Flora Daniel who took her in and raised her when her addict mother died. Granny Flora is sick and dying, and Amy is angry with herself for staying away so long. Ever since she was little, Granny Flora told Amy tales of the Greek Gods and Goddesses, but they aren’t real, right? They are just stories to tell a young girl to stir her imagination.

All too soon, Granny Flora is gone, and Amy is heartbroken. She cries in the arms of what she thinks is a kind, and quite handsome, hospital worker. This handsome hunk is actually Thanatos, the God of Death, come to escort Granny Flora on. He realizes that Amy is the lost love of Hypnos, the God of Sleep. They also realize that if Zeus finds out she lives, he will do whatever it takes to destroy her again. Amy doesn’t believe that the Greek Gods were ever real, and believes that Than and Nos are two extremely gorgeous hunks with a bit of a mental problem. And until she believes that the Gods are real, then they have no chance of winning her to their side.

Believing Is Seeing is a wonderful twist on the Greek mythology that I grew up reading. The character development in this book is wonderful, and the gradual realization that Than and Nos love her, Amy, not just an ideal that she may have been at one time is fantastic.

I love Greek mythology, and the research that Ms Davies has done is masterful. I love it when Amy’s best friend DeeDee makes these two strong men promise to play fair; DeeDee is actually Aphrodite you see, and she wants them to woo Amy properly. The sex is, of course, way beyond volcanic. One of the hottest scenes is the one between Than and Nos, with Amy watching surreptitiously from the hall when she goes to wake them one morning.

Can Than and Nos convince Amy to believe, before Zeus succeeds? Can Amy accept two men into her life and her heart? And just what is DeeDee going to do with that leash and collar she put on Zeus? For answers to these questions, and many more, read Believing is Seeing. It is a wonderful, sexy and totally off the wall adventure in reading fun."

Angelic Forecast ~ #55

FROM LAST WEEK...

Yes. The stone and crystal form according to our desires. As it grows the structure takes on a life and shape of its own. It becomes part of the land.
Wow. Now that’s creative architecture.
The door seems to phase open. I see no actual solid shape swing inward or outward. All the rosy, caramel and pewter colors of the stone deepen, and become a glorious swirling aurora.

TO BE CONTINUED...

Sarius slows to a gliding trot and I can see within their home. However, all I observe is a luminous interior as if it’s been lit by a huge fireplace.
How many of you live here? I ask.
There are twenty-two of us, currently. Some of us are on sacred missions.
I long to ask him about their sacred missions, yet deep inside I know that is not what matters right now. But, what does? Why am I here?
Easing into a sedate walk, Sarius enters. The other two horses remain beside us. Instantly, a luxurious great room takes shape. It’s so grand in colors and furnishing it’s difficult to describe. Certainly, everything has been designed for use by equines, whether sitting or lying down.
“Amazing,” I whisper.
Reluctantly, I slide from Sarius’s back once he halts beside a low platform.
Take hold of mane, he invites, I will show you around.
Who can resist? Not me!
I grasp a small section of his silky mane, so similar to the horses I’ve known, yet different, of course. The feeling is far more vibrant.
Where is everyone? I ask, since the great room is empty.
They frolic with the foals at this time when the light is favorable.
Suddenly the scream of wildcat pierces the air around us.
~~~~~~
This week foreshadows the rest of the year, 2009. Every event on the world stage will continue to grow and culminate at the end of the year or within the first months of 2010.
This is also a time to take stock of what has gone on in your personal life and career, so far, with an eye toward the future. Specifically, those things and trends you want to continue, that is where to place your focus and energy.
Whereas those things you would prefer to end or change, this is the time to ease yourself away from them and look for how to make the best changes.
This is a good time to renew partnerships that have worked for you and are working for you, no matter if it’s business or personal. The right partnerships are crucial for the times ahead.
Remember, no matter what occurs ~ family and friends, those you love, that is your true sanctuary.
Release Day - WOLF QUEEN
Available Today
Katia has loved Mikhail Nikolaevich forever. When her father dies, she goes to Mikhail for solace. Afterward, believing Mikhail doesn't truly care for her, Katia flees. By then, it's too late. The mating heat has started and must be completed or Katia will die.
But Mikhail is not all he seems. He's a Kindred and he's determined to have Katia as his mate. But first, he has to convince Katia that he does love her. That's easier said than done when Katia learns about the Kindred and that the man she loves turns into a werewolf. It's also complicated by the fact that Mikhail is leader of his people.
Mikhail has to defend Katia against a Council of Elders who believe she's an inferior human, and a band of rogue werewolves is out to kill them all. Can Mikhail save his bondmate before she gets challenged again, or will Katia have to fight for her life?
STORY EXCERPT
It was an obsession. She was an obsession. He had to find her. He had to have her, to posses her, to dominate her. She was his. And no one, not even she, would tell him no.
Mikhail Nikolaevich lifted his face into the passing wind, sniffing the frosty air. There was a variance of smells combined in the breeze, but he could easily pick out her personal fragrance. It smelled soft and musty like wild flowers and summer rain.
It was a seductive aroma. The mere hint of her scent made his cock harden with each breath that he took. She had quickly become an addiction many months ago, an addiction that he was not unwilling to feed. And feed it he would.
Jumping down from his crouched position on top of the cement steps leading down into the city park, Mikhail briskly started walking through the manicured grounds. He had been tormenting himself for two days now. It had taken him three days just to find his prey. He knew he could have taken her that first night when he had first caught her scent. She would be easy prey, walking alone through the park as she was.
But he wanted to draw his torture out, to relish in its wicked pleasure. It made the hunt all the more entertaining. He had possessed her once, and he would possess her again. It made his wait all the more sweet. Mikhail ran his tongue over his slightly distended teeth. He would not be able to put off claiming her too much longer. He could feel his tense control slowly slipping away. The beast within wanted out.
His lips twisted in a cynical smirk as he admitted he would miss the chase. It had been gratifying. She had known almost immediately that someone, or something, had been stalking her. He had felt her fear and her determination to escape him. He chuckled at her efforts to evade him, almost as if she had a choice.
He also knew she was aware of him, aware that he had come for her. While joined bondmates were always aware of their consorts, he had been a little surprised that she had picked up on his presence so quickly. That usually did not happen until after the joining. It had just made him all the more certain that she was the one he had been searching for.
Mikhail lifted his face into the cold breeze once more, inhaling her scent. She was nearby, here, in the park. He could feel her, her essence, her very heart beating. And it was beating very fast, almost too fast. Mikhail's smile was one of satisfaction, knowing that she felt his presence, and that he unnerved her.
It was not necessarily a bad thing for his bondmate to be a little afraid her Cadre. It would make her obedience more certain. As the Cadre male of his clan, obedience from his bondmate was imperative. It kept him from hurting her during the seeking or the joining, or both.
Mikhail quickened his pace down the cement walkway that wound through the park. Tonight was the night. Tonight, she would finally be his. He could feel the beast within him stirring for the hunt. His blood started to heat up in anticipation of the prize he was about to seize. His teeth ached, wanting to sink into her soft flesh. He could feel blood lust coursing through his veins. Soon, very soon, she would be his again.
Mikhail's pace was fast now, his feet barely touching the hard ground below him as he zeroed in on her. He caught a glimpse of her up ahead of him. She was walking as fast as she could without actually running. He could feel her body tighten in anticipation of an attack. She definitely knew he was here.
Again, a streak of satisfaction ran through his body at the thought that she was already aware of him, even before their eventual joining. It gratified him that her abilities were so strong. He knew she would make a good bondmate for a Cadre when he had chosen her.
The smile on Mikhail's lips quickly turned into a snarl as he felt her fear turn to total terror. Something was wrong. The fear she felt was way beyond what woman should feel when her bondmate was nearby.
Mikhail increased his speed until he was mere feet from his prey. He sensed the pulse on her neck hasten in fright. It was beating fast. Normally, he would be happy he could quicken her blood like this. But he immediately knew he did not cause this. Something, or someone, was after her besides him. They were not alone.
Clearing his mind of the lust that filled him, Mikhail sensed the presence of three human males. He could feel the evil emanating from them. They were up to no good. And they were after that which Mikhail considered his. Mikhail felt the beast inside of him seethe with anger as he attempted to hold it in. It wanted blood.
Wednesday's Words for September 16, 2009
When you’re standing smack dab in the middle of middle age—that is to say when the muck of it is nearing the top of your boots—you begin to have strange thought-tangents. That was me this week, and the basic thought at the center of my tangent was: life isn’t anything at all like THEY said it was going to be.
When I was a teen in school, the educated literati and Academics of the day made some pretty lofty claims with regard to just about everything when it came to what we could expect in the future. Take the work-a-day world, for example.
THEY said that we’d all be working a three day work week, that we would be paid sufficiently for those three days to provide a very good life-style, and that we would all be involved in extensive leisure-time activities—supposedly because we would have a surfeit of leisure time.
Before the recession, a lot of people worked far more than the so-called regulation forty hours per week. Many folks had more than one job, because today’s employers tend to hire “part time” staff, and so often one job doesn’t bring in enough money for one to support one’s self, let alone a family.
My beloved is fortunate enough to be employed in an industry that he loves, an industry that is one of the cradles, if you will, of “infrastructure spending”. While at the beginning of the year he had his hours slashed—a victim of panic on the part of his boss (a gentleman who is, by the way, no longer his boss), at this point in time his company is trying to make up for all that lost time (and product not produced for contracts that had been signed) and my beloved is putting in sixty-four hour weeks. When I remind him he’s not as young as he used to be, he reminds me that slow time will surely come again in the winter, and since the last boss panicked and cut everyone’s hours, the new one could do the same and he best “make hay while the sun shines.”
Surfeit of leisure time indeed. Well, that’s one THEY got wrong.
Another claim THEY made was that with the proliferation of computers, paper and paper reports would be a thing of the past. There would be no need for all this paper: the forests of the world were saved!
The first job I had when still a newlywed was as a clerk in a department store credit office. Within six months of my hire, that company began the (then) arduous task of computerizing their records, a process that was supposed to eliminate my job completely. Fortunately, it did not.
As for the salvation of the trees, according to one source, since the early 1960s, world consumption of paper and paperboard has increased by almost five hundred percent. Basically, the use of paper in the United States works out to about 660 pounds per person per year on average.
Anyone who works in an office will tell you that’s something else THEY got wrong.
Do you recall television before cable and satellite? You had to buy your television, of course, and you had to buy the antenna that went atop your house, and pay for the electricity that made everything work. But television programming itself was free.
I think I ought to repeat that for my readers who are 30 and younger. Television viewing was free.
The only drawback to free television was you had to watch a lot of silly commercials, because it was the commercials that paid for the television programs. Then came this new concept, cable television. You’d have to pay for it of course, THEY said. We were shocked. Pay for television? Yes, THEY said. But don’t worry. There would be no commercials on cable television, because your cable subscription would pay for the programs—thus no need for the commercials.
No need for commercials? Commercials are everywhere, on every available surface the eye can see or the ear can hear, as well as embedded in practically every page a person views on the Internet. Heck, they’re even, sometimes, at the bottom of essays.
It gives me some comfort, after all these years, as I am sliding deeper into the muck of middle age, to know with a surety that THEY weren’t as smart as THEY thought THEY were.
Angelic Forecast ~ #54
FROM LAST WEEK...
If you would honor my back, I will carry you to our home. Sarius moves with such grace and gentleness, positioning himself before me, that I slip from the cloud and wrap my legs around him.
I wonder what I have done as he walks forward, a floating gait that makes me breathless. The other two horses flank us, their gazes angelic.
TO BE CONTINUED...
We fly and run at the same time over what appears to be a dry winding riverbed. I feel weightless, yet not. On both sides of me are low banks of river stone and long stretches of emerald green land, a different, more intense, shade of green than I’ve seen before.
In the far distance, and to my left, are mountains, gentle green giant mountains, not craggy towers reaching for the sky.
Suddenly, we shift direction, racing up and over the riverbank. Ahead is a lone mountain with three spires. The closer we come, the more I see the pinkish glisten of stone. The small mountain grandly rises from the ground and the stone is a splendid soaring chaos of striations.
Our home, Sarius mind-speaks to me.
At the same time, I watch an arch-shaped door appear.
Home? I have nothing better to ask. I’m in a state of absolute wonderment.
Many of us grow our homes here, Sarius replies.
Like living stone?
Yes. The stone and crystal form according to our desires. As it grows the structure takes on a life and shape of its own. It becomes part of the land.
Wow. Now that’s creative architecture.
The door seems to phase open. I see no actual solid shape swing inward or outward. All the rosy, caramel and pewter colors of the stone deepen, and become a glorious swirling aurora.
TO BE CONTINUED...
~~~~~~

The following week will appear as if the universe owns a giant ratchet and is twisting the world up to a new notch of tension. This week is best dealt with using your own spiritual awareness and by taking a step back. Observe carefully, then respond. Several crucial decisions will be made by those on the world stage.
Your own personal decisions will also be crucial to how your life evolves from this point on. The most important thing to consider is your family and all those you love. What kind of future do you want for them and for yourself?
This week is about creating the future more than has previously occurred on our beloved Earth.

I'm amazed it's been almost a month since my first book, Believing Is Seeing was released. Which means my first newsletter draw is next week.

The contest winner will receive a Luminary candle holder, candles, and a jar of Lady Lust Double `O' pleasure potion. It's up to you to find a friend to use all this with. ;-) I added a little bit of fun from my recent trip to Montreal with Mr D.

Take a breath and enjoy life right now. Tomorrow will come soon enough.

Until next time, Take care!

Believing Is Seeing

Leaving a destructive relationship, Amy Bitonu returns to her hometown to help her ailing granny, unaware of how much her life is going to change.

She had given up on having a family of her own, thinking there isn't a man alive who could deal with her emotional baggage. That is until two men show up in a dream claiming to be Hypnos and Thanatos, gods straight out of ancient Greek mythology. Her life takes a sharp turn into surreal when she meets them while awake. To top it off, they think that she is their long lost goddess.

Long ago, Thanatos and Hypnos were unable to stop the destruction of the goddess they had hoped would be the perfect compliment to their powers. With her back, they could be more powerful than before, but she has no memory of them. Worse, she doesn't believe in them, which makes them all vulnerable. In order to be together, she has to believe the impossible, only then will she see the truth.

4 1/2 Cherries for Sexual Healing for Three!

“Ms. McKeever writes a gripping novel about coming to terms with who we are and what we want out of our lives. Her characters are unique and memorable. They stay with you once the book closes. Her scenes are rich with details, keeping the reader firmly entrenched in the story. The love scenes are graphic, but filled with passion. You know these people love each other and are afraid to upset the balance in their lives...

If you want a steamy novel about learning how to be yourself, and how to accept what you can’t change, then Sexual Healing for Three is the novel for you. I give this work 4 ½ Cherries.” Tiger Lily for Whipped Cream Reviews.

Contemporary erotic romance

May 2009

Jasmine Harper had a bad year. After a bitter separation and divorce, she now wanted to celebrate. She and her best friend Brenda went for drinks with a couple of Brenda’s bowling friends. Brenda left early. Jaz partied until she was almost drunk. She invited the two men to come to her place.

Greg Gregory and his uncle, Ted Rawlins, were surprised and definitely excited when their newly-met friend invited them to her home. Greg and Ted were fabulously beautiful men with dynamic personalities. The upcoming night promised to be one not to be forgotten.

This book by Laura Ashton was forceful. The sexual scenes were both explicit and frequent. The fact that Jaz was going to have to choose one man was the underlying question that kept surfacing throughout the manuscript. The powerful men were vibrant and forceful. However, they always seemed to toe-the-line when it came to Jaz’s demands. It was strange how she was able to call all the shots in their unusual relationship.

I was impressed with the depth of the characters, both the main and supporting ones. The storyline was well developed and I found myself immersed in this book. The fact that these men were wealthy made no difference to Jaz until they were able to open doors for her professionally which changed her life completely.

The sexual tension was vigorous and frequent. This book is definitely not for the faint of heart. The sensuality was explicit but, while a big part of the book, did not come across as nothing but sex. The ménage was uninhibited. The ending was totally unexpected.

I highly recommend this book for anyone who enjoys M/F/M. The fact that there was such a strong storyline assured me that the book would be remembered. It’s a great read which will not disappoint any readers.

Sensuality rating: Explicit
