Reviews for Deadly Mates
Got the most awesome review for Deadly Mates 4: Dragon's Bloodmoon this morning. Among other things, Regina from Coffee Time Romance says
"The world building is excellent, and incredibly imaginative and I love how the author uses Greek, Chinese and other mythologies to help build her worlds. The emotion filled passion that encompasses the relationships between the three mates is also not to be missed. If you have not had the pleasure of reading a Scarlet Hyacinth book, then I strongly urge you to check her out today, she is one of the very best storytellers around!"
Full review here.
Regina also reviewed book 3 of Deadly Mates, but my technical difficulties make my updates a bit slower. *sweat drop
"Wow! All I can say is this book is every bit as spectacular as the first two books in this series. Ms. Hyacinth has done it again with Spell of the Predator’s Moon. This book has everything, mythology come to life, hot, sexy shifters, and a real mystery too. I loved the whole dynamics of how suddenly this werewolf has two mates instead of one. The confusion these three go through is well thought out, and the emotions described are so spot on that the reader cannot help but feel them right along with the characters. "
Full review here.
Thank you, Regina, for both your reviews!

New 5 Star Review for 'Love Lessons with the Texas Billionaire'
Eva St John of New Dawn Magazine arrives late at a symposium and manages to embarrass herself with Jack McClaine of Mclaine Industries pulling the strings at her expense with a sexual innuendo for all to hear. Eva, not one to sit idly and take it, calls Jack out with information she received from a source. Although smoothly denying the allegation, he wants to know where the leak came from.
Intrigued by the stunning beauty who is not impressed by his wealth and status, Jack decides Eva is worth getting to know on a more intimate level. Jack makes arrangements for Eva to shadow him for a month for an in depth article on the normally private lifestyle he leads. Eva and Jack find they have more in common than the attraction they share for one another.
Love Lessons With the Texas Billionaire exudes a seductive tone throughout the story. Jack is hard to resist with his simple dialog that says so much about him and the complexities of his vulnerabilities that have him questioning when it comes to Eva. Definitely a keeper, I thoroughly enjoyed Jan Bowles’s book and plan to read more of her stories at every opportunity.

Author discovery: All Shades of Blue Paradise by Savanna Kougar
Destiny and love can be denied for only so long...
Except for her daring equestrienne competitions, Lady Sheridan lives a quiet life caring for her family's estate, staving off financial ruin and keeping her brother's misdeeds from ruining his marriage and the life of her beloved nieces. Despite all his desperate efforts, Baron Zaggry has never discovered why his Sherfantasy broke their engagement. Now, his ruse successful, Sheridan is finally his, his slave lover. He has ten years worth of denied pleasures to make up for, to savor however he erotic chooses.
I savoured every delicious word of Savanna Kougar's ALL SHADES OF BLUE PARADISE. Kougar is a powerful, sensual writer, a poet of language, and the world she creates is richly textured, sensual and voluptuous, with its own language, beliefs and symbols. Blue is the colour of life, of love and of so much more in this alternate world of warring, sensual aristocrats. The pleasures and pains of slavery and of mastery are fearlessly and seductively explored and I was enchanted throughout. Sheridan is a beautiful, complex, caring woman of great dignity, compassion and courage. She is always graceful under pressure - and what seductive pressure Baron Zaggry tempts and teases her with! This is a kind of war between the sexes where all desires are admitted to and expressed but where the 'victor' of each encounter is always magnanimous. Their powerful relationship kept me guessing throughout and utterly enthralled. To be slave-dressed by a man like Zaggry ...
what a wicked, delicious fantasy!
This is the revelation of a decadent, disturbing world, a world of high politics and high stakes, where the fates of many are discussed at elegant yet deeply erotic soirees. In the midst of this sensual, abandoned world, the love between Zaggry and Sheridan remains absolute, although the cruel misunderstanding that has been deliberately engineered between them by their enemies remains until almost the very end of the novel, offering a satisfying conclusion of one of many threads. The end of All Shades of Blue Paradise is also a beginning as another contest has been arranged, with Sheridan about to compete with an enemy and Zaggry determined to protect her.
I await the next book in this intoxicating series with keen anticipation.

Three New Reviews for The Dance
5 Cherries—Whipped Cream (Long and Short Romance Reviews)
You might wonder about my word choice, ‘incomplete future’. Think of a scale – you put two items to weigh and they don’t match. Of course you are going to add something to or subtract from the one that needs to be balanced. Thing is, sometimes the item we believe to be perfect ends up being not enough. That is how I see the relationship between Rico and Mariah. It’s a delicate dance to make a relationship work and Ms. Davenport explores this from a very human perspective. Our hero and heroine each end up giving, but the scales remain unbalanced. They have to come to terms with what each is willing to do, to go that extra mile, if they want that balanced future, a complete future.
The back drop totally fascinated me. Oh sure, this occurs in a delightful and romantic location but what hooked me were the horses, especially Mariah’s horse, SueƱo. The riding discipline that Mariah practices is called dressage. I had no clue what that was; couldn’t wrap my mind around what that would look like. I found a co-worker who knew exactly what it was because she herself practices it with her horse so I was able to pick her brain. How cool was that? Think of the Lipizzaner stallions and you’ll get the picture. Once I figured it out, I had a new appreciation for Mariah’s character and enjoyed the story on a whole other (new) level. Now I am fascinated with Ms. Davenport’s choice of profession for her character. I wonder, what was her inspiration?
The passion they share is sweet and hot. The happily ever after is well earned and emotional. And through it all, Ms. Davenport keeps it optimistic with humor, love of family and hope. Which is a good thing because there are some tense moments which for me, were jarring and emotional. You can’t come away from reading The Dance untouched. I certainly didn’t and I highly recommend this book to everyone who enjoys a well told romance.
_____________________
The Dance by Jami Davenport is the story of a man and a woman who have been deeply wounded by loss and betrayal. They've each handled their pain very differently but still end up in the same place - hiding behind thick walls to keep out anyone who could hurt them again.
Mariah has been alone for as long as she can remember. She clings to material things because they don't run away. But still she keeps the hope alive that one day she'll find real love and have the whole fantasy. But in the meantime she'd rather by like Scarlett O'Hara in Gone with the Wind, and not think about it until tomorrow.
Rico has his own skeletons in his past and in his present his freeloading family is milking him dry. A has-been rock star who was addicted to drugs, Rico has thrown himself into his import business to keep everything else out of his life. But still his family is making him nuts so he goes into "hiding" in the San Juan Islands off the coast of Washington State. When he sees Mariah on her horse she puts the first chink in his wall in years, but is he ready to let her in, and will she want to cross that threshold?
The two can't resist each other and eventually give in to their feelings and their walls come tumbling down. But all too soon it is time for Rico to head back to his "real" life and that coupled with the truths that Mariah learns brings their happiness crashing against the rocks.
The Dance is a great book! It pulls on your heartstrings and caused me to tear up a time or two. I really felt for Mariah and all the hurts she had to work through. Her growth throughout the story was inspiring. Rico, of course, had my heart from the beginning. And when the two are together it is beyond scorching! Through all of this The Dance is still more than just a love story, there are some ups and downs which keep you guessing and causes plenty of hand wringing as we wait to see if they will get their happily ever after. I definitely recommend this book, its a great read filled to the brim with real emotions and plenty of heat.

Simply Romance Reviews--"A" Rating and Outstanding Read
Mariah Baker doesn’t want to nurse her wounds – not the kind on the outside but the inside ones, that are deep and painful. She’d rather put it off like Scarlett O’Hara in Gone With the Wind, but in The Dance she’ll learn that isn’t the best way to heal.
Rico is hiding from a family which is milking him dry. A music star that was betrayed and then shunned, he went into the import business and still supports his freeloading family. But he’s bored in his “hideout” until the day he sees a vision on a horse and can’t stay away.
Mariah and Rico are instantly attracted to each other and work hard to keep it controlled – at least for a while. Mariah knows Rico will leave at the end of the month and she doesn’t even know his true identity, he pushes all of her buttons and she can’t resist.
But nothing is as it seems and when Mariah finds out the truth and Rico goes back to his “real” life it is almost too much for her to bare. Coupled with the underhanded plotting by her unscrupulous ex, Mariah doesn’t have much of a chance though she puts up a good fight.
I really enjoyed Jami Davenport’s The Dance. It is a beautiful love story and so much more. There is a lot of plot weaving and twists here that you wouldn’t expect in this kind of story but it all works, especially the love scenes – can you say “smokin’?” If you’re looking for a read which will bring tears to your eyes and joy to your heart then pick up The Dance you won’t be disappointed.

Wendi Christner's 'The Water Bearer'
Jared rescues and protects Cassidy - he's a wonderful hero! He loves her and is wise in his love.
Writing in a flowing, descriptive style, Wendi Christner perfectly captures the country and the people of rural north Florida. She shows the country life in all its dusty glory. I could smell the cows and horses and men. I was fascinated by the Native medicine and spirit beliefs, by the country customs and by the kinship with animals, especially horses.
Wendi also beautifully evokes the power of first love - its gradual awakening and awareness, its heat and passion and sweetness.
There's tension throughout the story - will Cassidy leave or stay? Will she come to terms with the past? Will she and Jared find the love and courage to win through together? Read it and find out!
This is a marvellous, heartfelt novel that I really loved. I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending to everyone who enjoys compelling, realistic, glorious love stories.

Author Discovery and Review for 'The Twist' by Lee Silver
Would you take an assignment that paid 12 million dollars a week?
Zane of Tollison Consulting is deep in debt and the offer from Clearwater Tabacco seems too good to resist. At first all seems well and Zane strikes up a sparky relationship with Kathy, the clever and cute researcher at Clearwater.
Soon however there are problems. He can't contact his wife Elsie. He's having stomach cramps. He seems to have changed from being right handed to becoming left handed. And those aren't the only changes....
The science in 'The Twist' is fascinating, clearly explained and wonderfully SHOWN. There is also romance and that too is very original and intriguing. The novel has some very interesting and wry things to say about gender and gender roles, with the added spice of danger and threat to life. How will Zane and Kathy escape the traps that are inexorably enclosing them? Lee Silver keeps you guessing right till the end.
All in all, an excellent, engaging novel.

Discovering Michele Hart's Looks are Deceiving
By the end of the first chapter, Michele Hart has already captured the reader in the intense chemistry between Elissa and the hero, Greg. The passion builds through the book as the author expertly develops a deeper relationship between Elissa and Greg.Elissa is a charming mixture of shy and daring, adventurous and pragmatic, sexy and, yes, frumpy at times. Driven by an undeniable attraction for Greg at first, it soon becomes obvious that Elissa’s desires are complicating a much deeper goal.
Greg’s motives are more pure and straightforward, but no less complicated. As the single minded, determined hero, he suffers from a flaw that real men are often accused of. Greg sometimes fails to be direct about the smaller details.
Between Elissa’s intentional deceptions and Greg’s lack of explanations, the plot twist and turns in unpredictable ways. Looks are Deceiving has many layers of depth and a reader would be well advised to keep the title in mind when starting in on this novel. Even once you think you’ve figured it all out, there is still a mystery to be revealed in the last chapter.
Michele Hart thrusts the reader directly into the action from the beginning and keeps them there. With sizzling sex, engaging heroine and hero, a full range of colorful side characters and a well-developed plot, I highly recommend Michele Hart’s novel for anybody who loves their romances filled with suspense.

Book Review - Cowboy Games
Being new to the Siren-BookStrand stable I wanted to see what my fellow authors were producing, and how high the bar was. This was especially important to me as I'm a guy in a business where women have a distinct advantage. So first-up I chose Wendi Darlin's highly recommended Cowboy Games.
The plot line is simple: the heroine, Rebecca, goes to a fantasy cowboy ranch to help her heal after losing her husband a year earlier. However, the story is complex and we are hooked immediately when she meets her cowboy host, Gavin. The hunky Harvard-educated cowboy's job is to pamper her for the week, but he is strictly off-limits as regards anything more intimate than a kiss on the cheek. Right!
Ms. Darlin has found a clever way to give the reader an insight into the way women and men approach love, romance, and sex. The story is peppered with twists and turns, villains and victims, and sudden surprises, as Rebecca falls deeper in love with Gavin. It is a love that appears to be mutual. Or is Gavin just doing his job, playing the cowboy game she'd signed up for? After the week's sojourn has ended will he forget her?
There is plenty of close-up sizzling sex for aficionados of erotic romance, and Ms. Darlin finds a way of producing an extremely satisfying climax.

Jami's Book Review--Cowboy Games by Wendi Darlin

Book Review
Cowboy Games by Wendi Darlin
Siren Publishing
Released on June 12, 2008
Wendi Darlin's first release, Cowboy Games, promises to be a Siren bestseller.
I, for one, loved Cowboy Games, because let's face it, who doesn't love a sexy cowboy, and Gavin Carter is one of the sexiest. He also operates Fantasy Ranch, every female's idea of a dream vacation. For seven days, the guests at Fantasy Ranch are treated like royalty by their gorgeous cowboy. Of course, there's a catch--two small rules that are not negotiable:
- No sex.
- No contact or attempted contact after the week is up.
Rebecca Ryder lost her husband a year ago and is still mourning his death. Their parting words on that fateful day involved a cowboy fantasy they'd enact when he came home from work that night, unfortunately, he never came home. Now Rebecca is ready to live that fantasy in the protected atmosphere of Fantasy Ranch.
One big problem: Rebecca and Gavin never considered that their fantasy might turn to reality, causing them to break every rule imposed by the ranch and by their own hearts.
Cowboy Games is a delightful tale of two lovable characters who are desperately trying to deny their attraction for each other. Wendi weaves a story full of sexual tension, heightened by the fact that the characters keep avoiding the inevitable. She takes you right to the edge of your seat then keeps you wanting more.
As a final twist, the ranch is being investigated by the authorities with the hope of getting enough dirt to close it down.
Pick up your own copy of Cowboy Games. You'll enjoy every minute of it.

New Review for Terms of Surrender!
“Gracie C. McKeever’s Terms of Surrender is filled with smoldering scenes and intriguing characters. Main characters Slany and Nick have a fiery physical attraction that erupts into a deep emotional bond. If you think that this is the normal storyline of a romance novel, you are sadly mistaken. This book packs more action than a ‘hood fight on a Friday night. I give it 4 ½ sistah hugs!” 4.5 Sistah Hugs, Jetrell http://www.sistahfriend.com/termsofsurrenderreview.htm
