Lindsay Townsend's FLAVIA'S SECRET

Flavia’s Secret is a well-crafted love story that will have you on the edge of your seat one minute and breathless the next. Lindsay Townsend’s writing style is simply beautiful. A true pleasure to read.

Flavia is a slave with a secret that may very well cost her life. Marcus her new owner is a gorgeous half-Roman with a warrior’s body and a lover’s heart. I’m not ashamed to admit I fell head over heels for this hero, and I just might be willing to trade my freedom for a chance to fill Flavia’s shoes.

The Roman baths and the ancient marketplaces were so well-drawn they came alive for me. The setting was sensual and palpable. It’s impossible not to become absorbed in Flavia and Marcus’s world and to care deeply for them. The secondary characters were woven neatly into the plot, and the villain’s power and control was absolutely terrifying.

I literally could not put this book down and when I was finished, I didn’t want it to end. I’ll be reading everything Lindsay Townsend writes, and I think everyone else who picks up this book will do the same.

Wendi Darlin's Review of Renee Knowles' Going Topless

I’m a huge fan of women’s fiction, and Renee Knowles’ Going Topless was a wonderful read. She did a fantastic job of weaving the storylines of three vivacious women together in an intriguing foreign locale. Amsterdam was painted so beautifully, I felt like I was there. She portrayed the scents, the history, and even the people of that country so well, I’ve moved it up on my list of places to visit before I’m too old to walk cobblestone streets.

Going Topless’ three primary characters, Susannah, Chelsie, and Mattie, were well-drawn and easy to relate to. Susannah’s journey was touching and heartwarming. Still recovering from the death of her husband, she is stung by the revelation of his betrayal. An intervention by her sister, Chelsie sends her to Amsterdam where she begins to pick up the pieces of her life, and meets a sexy younger man who is all too happy to help her get her groove back.

Chelsie has her own agenda in Amsterdam, but the reunion with her former lover isn’t what she’d hoped it would be. Worse, she doesn’t think she can share her pain with Susannah for fear of alienating her sister.

Chelsie’s best friend, Mattie finally steps out of Chelsie’s shadow. After a false start with a man who will tell her anything she wants to hear …as long as her wallet’s open… she finds someone who helps her see how desirable she really is.

This is a really nice feel-good read. A perfect beach book. I read it on an airplane, and it made the cross-country trip “fly” by.

5 Flags for Cowboy Games by Wendi Darlin!

5 Flags! --- "Cowboy Games is an incredibly steamy story. The heat between Gavin and Rebecca is scorching and I’m amazed the pages weren't smokin’. I’d lasso this book right quick and have yourself a good ole’ time, just make sure you have something cold nearby to cool you off – you’re gonna need it!" - Euro-Reviews

Simply Romance reviews Cowboy Games by Wendi Darlin

SRR GRADE - A
"Wendi Darlin’s Cowboy Games is one smokin’ story. From the first page through the last she takes us on a non-stop ride of sexual tension, teasing and a whole lot of loving. The setting is Wyoming on the “Fantasy Ranch” and by the time you finish reading you’ll be looking for some brochures yourself. The characters are strong and tender, stubborn and loving and all together realistic....Cowboy Games is well written, humorous and filled with smoldering passion. The sexual tension oozes throughout and the secondary plot is strong enough to keep you on edge worrying for our hero and heroine. All things must come to an end and the week at Fantasy Ranch is no different, but we can hope that Ms. Darlin will invite us back for more experiences in the future. Squeezing itself onto my keeper shelf, I’ll be looking for more of Ms. Darlin’s books to read. I highly recommend you pick this one up and enjoy a little trip to the Fantasy Ranch." - Simply Romance Reviews

5 Angels & RECOMMENDED READ for Cowboy Games!

"...The sexual tension that developed between Gavin and Rebecca was so hot you would have thought you were in the Mohave Desert. Cowboy Games was such a well written book by Wendi Darlin . When you think of a cowboy as well as how he should be, Gavin is that cowboy. He is sexy, knows how to handle a horse, has that great charm cowboys have about them and he fills out a pair of jeans in all the right areas..." -Cheryl, Fallen Angel Reviews

Book Review - Cowboy Games

COWBOY GAMES by Wendi Darlin
Review by Bill Newman

Being new to the Siren-BookStrand stable I wanted to see what my fellow authors were producing, and how high the bar was. This was especially important to me as I'm a guy in a business where women have a distinct advantage. So first-up I chose Wendi Darlin's highly recommended Cowboy Games.

The plot line is simple: the heroine, Rebecca, goes to a fantasy cowboy ranch to help her heal after losing her husband a year earlier. However, the story is complex and we are hooked immediately when she meets her cowboy host, Gavin. The hunky Harvard-educated cowboy's job is to pamper her for the week, but he is strictly off-limits as regards anything more intimate than a kiss on the cheek. Right!

Ms. Darlin has found a clever way to give the reader an insight into the way women and men approach love, romance, and sex. The story is peppered with twists and turns, villains and victims, and sudden surprises, as Rebecca falls deeper in love with Gavin. It is a love that appears to be mutual. Or is Gavin just doing his job, playing the cowboy game she'd signed up for? After the week's sojourn has ended will he forget her?

There is plenty of close-up sizzling sex for aficionados of erotic romance, and Ms. Darlin finds a way of producing an extremely satisfying climax.

Jami's Book Review--Cowboy Games by Wendi Darlin

Book Review

Cowboy Games by Wendi Darlin
Siren Publishing
Released on June 12, 2008

Wendi Darlin's first release, Cowboy Games, promises to be a Siren bestseller.

I, for one, loved Cowboy Games, because let's face it, who doesn't love a sexy cowboy, and Gavin Carter is one of the sexiest. He also operates Fantasy Ranch, every female's idea of a dream vacation. For seven days, the guests at Fantasy Ranch are treated like royalty by their gorgeous cowboy. Of course, there's a catch--two small rules that are not negotiable:

  • No sex.
  • No contact or attempted contact after the week is up.

Rebecca Ryder lost her husband a year ago and is still mourning his death. Their parting words on that fateful day involved a cowboy fantasy they'd enact when he came home from work that night, unfortunately, he never came home. Now Rebecca is ready to live that fantasy in the protected atmosphere of Fantasy Ranch.

One big problem: Rebecca and Gavin never considered that their fantasy might turn to reality, causing them to break every rule imposed by the ranch and by their own hearts.

Cowboy Games is a delightful tale of two lovable characters who are desperately trying to deny their attraction for each other. Wendi weaves a story full of sexual tension, heightened by the fact that the characters keep avoiding the inevitable. She takes you right to the edge of your seat then keeps you wanting more.

As a final twist, the ranch is being investigated by the authorities with the hope of getting enough dirt to close it down.

Pick up your own copy of Cowboy Games. You'll enjoy every minute of it.
