Io, Saturnalia! - plus a new excerpt from 'Flavia's Secret'

It may not have been Christmas exactly, but the ancient Roman Saturnalia (17th-23rd. December) was certainly an opportunity for feasting and gift-giving. Over the years, this time of merry-making, sacrifices and gift-giving expanded to a week and the poet Catullus - who knew a thing or two about parties - called it 'the best of days'.

In many ways this ancient festival was rather like Christmas:

Schools were on holiday.

Gambling was allowed.

Shopping at special markets was encouraged.

Holiday clothes were worn - the informal, colourful 'dining clothes' instead of the plain, bulky toga.

Presents were given - parrots, wax candles, dice, combs, perfumes, little pottery dolls.

Feasting was indulged, with Saturn himself in charge as Lord of Misrule.

People wished each other a merry Saturnalia with the evocation, 'io Saturnalia!' ('Yo Saturnalia!')

My ancient Roman historical romance Flavia's Secret has its climax and ending during the Saturnalia.

The Pompeiian partygoers in the picture come from the BBC's Ancient Rome pages.

Here is an excerpt from Flavia's Secret. Flavia is in ancient Roman Bath, Aqaue Sulis, shopping for last-minute items needed for the Saturnalia.

EXCERPT.

Flavia was as quick as she could be but there were queues everywhere in the food shops and spice and trinket stalls as slaves and even citizens shopped for last minute items for the Saturnalia. It was the first time she had been in the city this close to the festival. In other years, Lady Valeria had given her people small gifts of pickled fish and nuts but had otherwise ignored the Saturnalia, insisting that her servants remain indoors and serve her, rather than follow the tradition that at the Saturnalia the household slaves for one day at least were waited on by their masters.

‘The Saturnalia is a rowdy, vulgar, drunken festival, little more than an orgy,’ Lady Valeria had complained. ‘I will have no part of it in my house.’

Her words may have been true, but as the morning progressed, Flavia saw little to alarm her. The people in these snowy streets were intent on their money or goods. A few roughly-dressed men were crouched over gaming tables and she passed a group of giggling young slave girls, all waving napkins given to them as presents, but there was no sign of drunkenness or of wild orgies. Many workshops were shuttered and closed and houses the same. There was a distant grumble of noise coming from the theatre, close to the great bathing complex, but no raised voices.

Unsure whether to be glad or disappointed, Flavia swapped her basket from one arm to the other and sped on through the slushy snow. She longed to stay and find some gifts for Gaius and the others - especially for Marcus, her heart whispered - but she still had not enough money of her own. With a sigh, her final purchase haggled for and bought, she turned to make her way home, avoiding the wine shops and taverns and drawing her shawl over her blonde hair each time she crossed a busy street.

She was close to the blank front entrance of the deserted villa where she had taken Marcus to see the secret garden and pool when she heard the sounds of flutes and drums approaching from a narrow, snow-filled alleyway.

‘Ow!’ She put a hand to her ear, which had just begun to sting. A small apple lay at her feet in the snow and as she stared at it, she realized  that it must have been thrown down at her from the upper living quarters over one of the shuttered shops.

‘To Saturnalia!’ roared a good-natured male voice overhead. More small apples and nuts and then a cluster of sweetmeats rained down on Flavia and others in the street. People scrambled on hands and knees to pick up the fruit and other foods, while the racket of the flutes and drums drew nearer.

A prickle of alarm, cold as an icicle, shot down the length of Flavia’s back. Trusting her instincts, honed by years of slavery, she flattened herself into the nearest shadowy doorway, glad of her inconspicuous brown gown as she veiled her face with one end of the shawl. Scarcely breathing, she waited for this parade to go by.

They were all men. At least a score of brightly-dressed young men, several puffing cheerfully on long flutes or banging on drums and all with the rich, sleek look of Roman aristocrats and the free-born. These were revelers: quite a few clutched jugs of beer or wine which they carelessly drank from. Flavia prayed they would not notice her.

The last stragglers swayed past her hiding place. One, stumbling in the snow with heavy deliberateness, dropped to his knees close to where she was. He did not see her, but his two friends, slithering over the slush and ice to haul him up, spotted the small, wary figure in the shadows and shouted.

 ‘Hey, girl, join us!’

‘Let me give you something,’ the second leered, making a crude gesture with his hand.

Flavia darted away before the two men trapped her in the doorway.

‘Hey, come back!’

‘Party time!’

‘We have the wine and you are the orgy!’

Backing along the street, Flavia heard an ominous silence descend among the flute players and drummers. Walking as rapidly as she could in a clumsy, sideways fashion, she did not speak, or run. She did not want to provoke them.

Under her fear, her mind was still working. If she could only reach the crossroads, she would take the short-cut down the street of the fullers and make for the shrine of the goddess Sulis at the Roman baths. She was Christian but these men were pagans. Surely they would respect their own sacred place? Surely the goddess would protect her?

None of the other bystanders or shoppers raised a word against the rich, spoilt Romans. Flavia knew she was alone and would have to deal with them herself. She thought of Marcus, going into battle, facing down his enemies. He had not turned and run, and she would not.

One step after another, she edged along the twisting, foul-smelling street of the fullers, who today at least were not laboring over their vats of washing.

‘Hey, she is leaving us!’

‘Going away, the stuck-up -’

Flavia closed her ears and tightened her grip on her basket. She could see the flute players and drummers returning to join their more drunk companions, see them pointing at her, muttering among themselves.
But I am going to make it, she thought desperately, just as the hue and cry began:

‘Get her!’

‘Run her down!’

‘We need no toga girls if we grab her!’

‘Why pay for pleasure when we can have it for free?’

‘Get her!’

Flavia was already running, pelting along the street as if there was no snow underfoot, losing things out of her basket and not caring what they were. Panting, her vision beginning to double as she sprinted at the very limit of her speed, she fixed on the temple of the goddess Sulis and fled her leaden-footed, cursing pursers.

‘Come here, you -’

Behind her, a coarse hand grabbed at her shawl. She tore it away, escaping again, and passed bare-headed into the temple precinct of the shrine and bathing complex where she collapsed, sobbing but safe, against one of the many smoking altars.

Wednesday's Words for December 18, 2013

My love of the Christmas season is tied up in my memories of childhood—both my own, and that of my children. This love has been tempered through the years I have lived, and has grown and evolved not only from happy experiences, but sad ones as well.

As much as this time of year can be joyous, it also has the potential for being a difficult season, emotionally, for many to cope with. Those who are out of work, or who’ve just returned to work and still haven’t caught up on their financial situations, feel the pressure because they can’t provide those extras for their families, the way they want to. I know, because we’ve been there, many times.

Those missing loved ones feel that loss even more keenly at Christmas. I think it’s because this time of year, for those of us who celebrate it, is drenched in tradition. As you light that special candle, as you prepare that special meal, or as you head out to choose that perfect evergreen, you can’t help but recall the past, and the times you spent with that one who is no longer here.

Losses and crises suffered now seem somehow more tragic than if they happen, say, in the middle of March, or near the end of September. Christmas is a time for families, and so, when things impact the family at this time of year it seems more.

Today is an interesting day, historically for the Ashbury family. On this date in 1989, we had a house fire – our second, by the way – and while no one was hurt, we did suffer property loss, and financial loss, as we were, at the time, uninsured.

On this day in 2002, I had been transported from one hospital here to one in another city to undergo angioplasty, which, mid procedure turned into an emergency requiring triple by-pass, when the artery being given the stint, tore.

Through all of the disasters and near disasters we, like many of you, just keep putting one foot in front of the other. What else can you do? But no matter if you do just keep on keeping on, those incidents add shape and substance to the season.

As I have gotten older, I’ve come to understand that if life is to be lived to its fullest, then we have to do more than just endure hardships and tough times. We have to make them mean something.

I got out of the hospital on December 24, 2002. I came home to a house that was basically tidy, but there was no tree, and not much food in the cupboard. Y’all know I love my husband, and he is a man with many fine qualities. But he does not cook—no, he will not cook. So that Christmas Eve I did send him out to grab a bit of Chinese food at one of the take-out restaurants in town. And then I phoned my brother, who lives in this same town, and who does cook, and because I was a little grumpy 7 days post op, told him, flat out, he needed to bring us Christmas dinner the next day.

This he did with great grace and style—even including a pickle tray.

That was the first of two times in our lives we ‘celebrated’ Christmas without a Christmas tree. The second, of course, was the first Christmas without our son.

The enduring image I have of Christmas morning with my children, is them, in their pajamas sitting on the stairs, waiting for permission to come down to see the tree and the gifts awaiting them. They vibrated with excitement. After only two hours sleep, Mr. Ashbury and I needed our coffee first. We had to have those first few sips, because we needed to be alert enough so that we could enjoy their discoveries.

Because for us, their joy and pleasure was what Christmas was all about.

Next Wednesday is Christmas Day, and I will not be posting Wednesday’s Words. Instead, I will be snuggled down with Mr. Ashbury, and then preparing the dinner for 10/15ths of my family.

May you enjoy love and laughter, and the magic that is Christmas next Wednesday, and in all the days yet to come.

Love,
Morgan

Angelic Forecast ~ #276

For, Mars has become my home now. Dhuroth is my home. My memories of life on Earth are not distant. They remain real, vibrant, yet pale in comparison to what I now experience.

To the love I experience with my lion man. Already I can feel his welcoming kiss upon my lips.

"Yes, my one, I will kiss you most soundly and splendidly."

"Reading my mind again?" I tease.

***

Dhuroth wraps his large, ultra-strong arms around me. He lifts me off my feet and plants one serious and seductive kiss on my lips.

My arms throw themselves around his brawny neck as we dive our souls into each other, as our mouths seize each other. Delight and passion rules for long minutes.

There is nothing like my lion man's kiss.

Finally, he gentles his lips from mine. "Beloved," he rumbles from his great big heart.

"Beloved," I return, seeing his face through love misty eyes.

We continue clinging tightly to one another. Once my exhaustion begins to set in, I rest my head in the hollow of his over-sized shoulder.

"I have a gift for you," he purrs. "In honor of the day you celebrate as Christmas."

ANGELIC FORECAST ~

Across the world, the tribe of liberty forms -- coming together regardless of race, color, creed, or religion. For, the time has arrived to forge ahead, and let the fires of freedom win.

The people are ready.

On the magickal, mystical front, this week the 'Mages of Ages Lost' take a step back, and lower their lightblades. Thus, to monitor their progress against the 'ancient of ancient' viper magicians. For, the satanic sewage is so foul and thick at this point in history, the next battle front must be clearly seen. And known.

Meanwhile, across the planet, whirlwinds of white crystalline energy continue devouring the demonic forces that are being loosed upon humankind and Mother Earth.

As well, many will now be upgraded in their spiritual-psychic abilities -- switched on by the Good Angelic Ones. Key among these powers will be telepathy, and a 'knowing' -- or a perception that cuts through the establishment's lies and deception.

On the personal front, at this time, a strangeling week of holiday gaiety and economic reality collide for a lot of us. With the 'great changes' underway in society, you may feel at odds with your life -- out of sync in a way that halts your progress.

The best strategy is simply to forge ahead, and keep to your daily schedule, all while keeping a close eye on what is happening around you -- then making the needed adjustments.

Once again, forming stronger bonds with those you love and trust is vital to your future, and the future of ALL on planet Earth. As was known in the ancient days, singing together is the magic, the sacred glue that brings you and your loved ones closer together.

On the paranormal front, this week will be memorable for many in the population. This is because the barrage of cosmic energies increases greatly, revealing the supernatural world and 'high strangeness' events in more technicolor depth.

Now a particular fervor begins, then tsunamis over the world. People want to know the *truth* about the paranormal realm, and there will be THOSE who stop at nothing to discover these 'realities'.

In opposition, the dark-side social engineers will devise media entertainments that mislead, that disguise these 'uncovered' truths -- that will be designed to suck in the most gullible, like bloodthirsty vampires on a rampage.

On the truth front, to hide *TRUTH* from the people, one sinister strategy of the dark-side Vipers will be fractionalizing what is being revealed by the Divine Spotlight at this point in history.

That is, pieces, fragments of THE TRUTH will be released, exposed to the public eye. This will be especially true about the *real* space program -- as concerns the breakaway, Star-Trek society and the ET races already among us. Spock lives, or his basic race does.

On the land changes front, this week the tectonic plates become more active, and great portions of land move ever faster -- then begin ripping apart. Within the next several months, this is likely to be felt in southern California, and along the southeast coastline.

From the previous forecast: "look for more earthquake swarms and odd fireballs streaking across the skies of Earth. As well, the high-strangeness BOOMS have been ramping up once again, and will increase during the next several months.

Currently, given the large number of active volcanoes, and the escalating vulcanism across the globe, weather patterns will keep being altered significantly. This means more superstorms.

Meanwhile, the energies of the sun, The Great Lion Star, are being siphoned off by several celestial bodies. This will cause a temporary period of colder temperatures on Earth."

On the AWAKENING front, as several timelines shift into one dominant timeline,  the GREAT AWAKENING leaps forward.

As well, these energies are now supercharged. From the *November 25, 2012* Angelic Forecast ~ #221...

... "Now comes the Cobalt Blue Light from the star, Sirius, further activating the Great Awakening on Earth. The angels sing in tune, creating the opportunity for  humanity to shed the old garments of 'what was'.

It is time to dress in the fine, new raiments of 'what could be', where imagination is unlimited, where life is the stuff of your most precious dreams.

To battle against this Great Awakening, the 'dark powers that be' will continue perpetrating horror after horror on the world stage. THEY seek to imprint humanity with this trauma energy, and, thus keep the people downtrodden."

On the good news front, now develops an exciting trend that 'could' lead to a better life for ALL. That is, if the people grab hold, and make it happen.

With the rise of the cowboy-cowgirl renegade culture, there is a new groundswell of 'we can do this' and 'we will overcome'. More and more, determination becomes ferocious. And, the strength of the people's will becomes a superstorm-force to be reckoned with.

Life With Baby Doll: Gay Partners in Love

WARNING:  The links contained within this post will take you to sites with content for mature readers only.  However, this post is suitable for a PG audience.

Due to the fact that this week's Life With Baby Doll post contains adult language and themes, I am only posting a summary on this blog.  The full segment can be read in it's entirety on my Website at the following link:  Life With Baby Doll:  Gay Partners in Love.

This post was a result of some additional reader e-mails concerning my romantic life with John, a discussion of transgender dysphoria in a gay FTM Facebook group I belong to, and a discovery in my bedroom closet this past week. I felt that it would be beneficial to share exactly how John and I are committed lovers. Partly, so there is no mistaking the relationship we share, and to further my belief that LGBTQ topics should be openly discussed.

I enjoy hearing from all of my readers, and look forward to your e-mails. Remember Love is Love…Period.

Wednesday's Words for December 11, 2013

Are you tired of the “holiday season” yet? Personally, I hate what we as a society have done to what is a very special time of year.

Every year, it seems to me, the hype at the malls gets bigger and louder and glitzier. The music, the decorations, and the push to buy more, get more, have more...it’s enough to give anyone a headache.

As much as possible, I try to stay away from the malls during the Christmas season. For the last couple of years we’ve been giving gift cards to everyone (except the very young), and we give everyone the same amount. One stop shopping for just about everyone on our list. But that isn’t the only giving that we do.

In our grocery store, where we shop every week, there is a big bin that has the words, “food bank” blazoned across it. It is there, permanently, every single day, but it only seems to be full, or nearly so, during this time of year.

I believe that if every single person who shops there, every week, were to buy just one thing—a jar of peanut butter, some tuna, jar of baby food, or even a can of stew—that bin would be full every day, and those most in need would be fed, every day.

But ‘tis the season when the status conscious (as opposed to the morally conscious) make a big show of giving to the poor. Seeing this, knowing this, used to make me shake my head. It’s like they’re saying, hey, if you’re really poor, and hungry, then hurray, you got to eat well for one day of the year.

I saw something last year that really shocked me and made me think. I never spoke out at the time, because I think such acts as this invoke their own Karma. And it happened at this time of year.

In December our local grocery store sponsors a “fill the cruiser” campaign. On three weekends, a police cruiser is parked in front of the doors of the store, lights flashing, and people are encouraged to give the officer some food for the needy, that he then puts in the cruiser. These donations are taken to the Salvation Army, a charitable group that does wonderful work in our community.

Last year, as I had just left the checkout and was heading out of the store, a well dressed man (suit, tie, overcoat and hat) stepped in front of me after going, empty handed, through the lane at the “express” counter. He then scooped a bag that had been placed in the food bin by someone else, and carried it outside and handed it to the officer collecting donations.

Of course, the cop thanked him for his charity, and this good Samaritan stood and chatted with the nice officer for a while, basking in the glow of his goodness.

I didn’t say anything at the time. But I thought about that episode a lot later.

Some people, I guess, are happy with making a “show” of generosity and caring, like that man was. And he got the only reward he’s ever going to get: an empty “thank you”. Not that the officer was disingenuous, because he was not. But since the man had done nothing to earn gratitude, then the gratitude he was given, was worthless.

I believe—I choose to believe—that most people are generous and genuine. I choose to believe that most people will lend a hand to a stranger if the opportunity is there. I choose to believe that the number of selfless acts performed quietly and without fanfare every day outweigh the moments of false braggadocio—or the moments when people simply turn away from helping.

There are always people in worse straits than we are; and no matter how humble are our means, we can always give something.

If I buy one can of stew for 1 dollar, and you buy one can of stew, and everyone buys one can of stew, and there are 1000 people shopping at the store that day, then that is 1000 cans of stew! And if a family of 4 were to eat 2 cans of stew per meal, for three meals a day, that is 6 cans of stew. One thousand cans divided by 6 means that 166 families could eat for 1 day – and all you donated was a dollar.

Yes, that illustration was very simple. But then, so is giving, when you get right down to it.

Love,
Morgan

Angelic Forecast ~ #275

"Cleanup mission," I say to my jet. She slows, spins, and goes on the attack like a cat after mice.

Meanwhile, I fire threadlike beams, striking the bullet-drones one at a time. "What a mess," I mutter, as I continue targeting the tiny bomblets.

***

Starting to lose my concentration, I force myself to continue destroying the last of the bullet-drones. It's sorta like trying to gather up a bagful of dumped marbles on a slick floor.

"Cleanup is complete," Dhuroth booms over my com. "Come home, my beloved."

My lion man's words are sweet relief. I palm my jet's console offering gratitude for her stellar performance. "Home," I say from the depth of my heart.

For, Mars has become my home now. Dhuroth is my home. My memories of life on Earth are not distant. They remain real, vibrant, yet pale in comparison to what I now experience.

To the love I experience with my lion man. Already I can feel his welcoming kiss upon my lips.

ANGELIC FORECAST ~

On the AWAKENING front, The Time of the Brave Ones is Nigh

At this point in time, the dark-side blatantly displays itself in a bid to overwhelm and brutally overtake humankind. Fear propaganda and militaristic force will be used as the Viper elite attempt to smash and tromp down on those of deepest heart and soul. Those who treasure liberty.

However... NOW, more of the Brave Ones who have been born for this time ARISE, coming forth in ever greater numbers. Wave after wave will tsunami against this enormous tide of evil.

Wherever, whenever you are able, stand with the BRAVE ONES, support them, assist them. For, they will lead all of us in the direction we wish to travel in this time -- on this beautiful, blue marble planet. Toward a renaissance paradise.

This week's HIGHLIGHT: taking back the power of the purse with innovative strategies, it all fast-forwards now. Look for your opportunities.

On the good news front, this activist trend only becomes BIGGER... from a prior forecast: "The Spirit of the People Rise to the Challenge... this trend stated in a recent forecast only soars to new heights. The BRAVE ONES among us take their bold voices to the people, inspiring unprecedented activism.

Out of this, the spiritual ascension of the Aquarian Age ACCELERATES. In part, this means new ways of commerce develop, especially at the local level. For, the people begin taking back the power of the purse with innovative strategies."

On the magickal, mystical front, this week the 'Mages of Ages Lost' expose more evil doings by those called leaders, and world leaders. They swing and slash their mighty lightblades through the black, deceiving layers of sorcery. For, the world must change course now.

On the personal front, this week is about 'gathering'. Gathering together with those you may not have been with for a good length of time. It's also about gathering together elements of your life, as in your thoughts about the near future. As well, this time is about physically gathering supplies for the winter and superstorm-weather ahead.

During this holiday season add a bit of kindness when the opportunity arises. Also, accept the kindnesses offered when it comes from a pure heart. Thus, GOOD spins around Mother Earth raising the sacred energies.

On the paranormal front, the time travelers now arrive in huge numbers. This could feel like a jerkiness in the way life flows, and will show up on the world stage as near-instant reversals in some policies. This is because alterations are being made that will be beneficial in the long scheme of TIME.

Also, the Time Wars wind down, and several timelines are being joined together for the sake of ALL.

Plus, look for another week of record-setting UFO sightings -- and revelations around CONTACT. Also, the Sasquatch people continue to speak through those who are in contact with them. That is, if you listen to and/or read alternative news sites devoted to this cryptid phenomena.

On the land changes front, look for more earthquake swarms and odd fireballs streaking across the skies of Earth.

This will cause a temporary period of colder temperatures on Earth.

Life With Baby Doll: Moments Like This

Andrew and John
I consider each moment that I share with my partner, John Jericho, a treasured gift.  However, there are just some instances that are sweeter than others. Particularly moments like the one pictured above.  For someone who never believed that he would find love, that makes a kiss like the one I shared with Baby Doll this past Thursday night all the more delicious.
My readers know that I’ve always tried to humanize myself.  John and I are just two gay men that have been in a long-term committed relationship for twenty-two years.  Together, we have two teenage children at home.  Within the last three years, we have added a pair of cats, at different times of course, that has increased our family size to six.
While I can say that our life together is full of love, our partnership also consists of the usual necessities that keep a family unit together.  Baby Doll and I have bills to be paid, meals to prepare, laundry to wash, and any other household tasks that might arise.  Those responsibilities are just the ones at home.  There has also been illnesses, doctors appointments, and errands outside of the home necessary to keep our family functioning.  I am sure that this routine is familiar to many.
Keeping the love and intimacy alive between John and I, amid the chaos of life, is a responsibility that I don’t take lightly.  As a romantic man, I am always looking for opportunities to  express my love to John, hence Thursday’s tender kiss.
In May of this year, Baby Doll and I moved to our present home.  During the move, John’s rainbow fleece pajamas got misplaced.  Of course the pair was his favorite, not to mention mine, too.  What gay man in his right mind, that shares a top/bottom dynamic with his partner, could resist his flamboyant twink parading around in such attire.  So for months, we had searched for the missing pj’s.
This past week was a insane race to try and prepare for the ice storm apocalypse that weathermen had forecasted for Arkansas.  The days had certainly been chaotic at best, as I fought traffic to complete errands, and braved the crowds at stores for household supplies.
In my preparations on Thursday afternoon, I knew that I would need to retrieve a few extra flashlights and our battery operated lantern from a box in our utility closet just in case we lost power.  Upon opening the box, John’s rainbow pajamas lay neatly folded on top.  How they got there is a mystery.  From a moment of chaos, I knew that I was going to have a little experience of heaven.  I’ll be Baby Doll’s hero any day, particularly when he said that my reward was going to be a kiss.
As bedtime approached on Thursday night, John asked me if I wanted him to wear the rainbow pj’s to bed.  Of course that was a rhetorical question on his part.  He already knew the answer.
Baby Doll’s lips were soft and sweet beneath mine.  John’s flamboyance, paired with masculinity, continues to warm a romantic fire through my heart, and build a smoldering inferno of desire in my body.  In taking a hero’s reward, I was reminded of how moments like this serve as proof that love remains even amid chaos.

WRITE ON THE EDGE

Write On the Edge Show

Blog talk radio with guest author Stormy Glenn

Call 917-889-8080 during the show to ask me the burning questions you’ve always wanted to know.

Wednesday's Words for December 4, 2013

Wednesday’s Words is 7 years old!

Over the course of the last seven years I’ve been privileged to write essays that you, my readers, have read faithfully. There have been maybe four Wednesdays in total that I have missed, primarily due to being on vacation where the Internet connection was sketchy.

What amazes me the most when I think about it is that I have found something to say every week for so many years!

As most of you know who’ve read my essays each week, I often let you see me, warts and all. I don’t put on airs, choosing instead to let you see the flaws and the foibles that have followed me around for most of my life.

I’ve had different people—people who know me personally and claim to only be thinking of my best interests—tell me from time to time that this isn’t a good idea. Some have said that since I am an author of romance, my business should be primarily “exporting happy” to everyone, since romance novels are the quintessential happy-ever-after books. They think that if I am going to offer a blog at all, it should be hearts, and flowers, and all things wonderful.

I’ve had others tell me that I need to preserve an air of mystique. I guess they subscribe to the maxim that “familiarity breeds contempt”, or some such business. They feel that I need to keep myself “apart” from my readers (they call them fans), that all celebrities do this, and that very attitude of being “apart” [and here I think they meant ‘better’] helps to make celebrity what truly it is.

I’m not a celebrity, I’m just me.

Then there are those who say, “You shouldn’t let people know your business” as if letting people know my business was tantamount to letting them see me in the bathroom. I’ve asked why they feel that way, but so far, no answer has been forthcoming.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and to make their own choices in this life. Over the years I’ve been very honest with you about the tough times we’ve been through, and the journey we are on. I’ve shared with you my most vulnerable moments, especially in the aftermath of our son’s death.

It is important to me that I write these kinds of essays, showing you my vulnerabilities, and the reason is simple. I need to share the crap that happens to me in my life so that others out there know they are not the only ones digging themselves out of the muck.

When life serves us up these piles of poop, for want of a better term, we humans tend to hunker down, withdraw, and often, we feel as if we’re the only ones going through, well, what we’re going through. This feeling of isolation is really the worst part of what we have to endure on this earth.

Anyone who has been blessed, as my husband and I have been blessed, also has a responsibility to give back. One of the ways I give back is to let you see me without my makeup, with all my scars showing, all my flaws hanging out, so that you know you are not alone.

The truth is that very little of what we experience in our lives, we homo-sapiens, is truly unique. Individualism exerts itself in how we handle what we’re handed. We can find victory even in the worst of circumstances, if we don’t allow tough luck or hard times to defeat our spirit. If, in other words, we remember that hardships don’t come to stay, they come to pass.

I often have no idea what I’m going to write about when I sit down to pen these essays. But I usually don’t have to wait long for inspiration to find me. Thank you for continuing to read these words of mine. And thank you, especially, for so many of you who so often share right back.

Love,
Morgan

Angelic Forecast ~ #274

Faster and faster we fly as I target the lead bullet-drone. One strike, one true shot and it will burst into nano fragments destroying most of the swarm.

A prayer on my lips, I fire the ultra-thin beam. Before the hit, I am ready to blast swathes through the glittery metallic swarm.

"Direct hit," my lion man intones.

Prism-colored glints of nearly blinding light particles fill my field of vision. I blink and yield control to my jet. She purrs rapidly through destroyed bullet-drones -- signaling with a tone when we soar on the other side.

"Scattered bullet-drones to your left," Dhuroth warns. "Not all of the swarm were fully destroyed."

"Cleanup mission," I say to my jet. She slows, spins, and goes on the attack like a cat after mice.

Meanwhile, I fire threadlike beams, striking the bullet-drones one at a time. "What a mess," I mutter, as I continue targeting the tiny bomblets.

ANGELIC FORECAST ~

Fire meets water. Earth meets wind. Now, these spiritual and natural forces collide, combine, and cause global catastrophes -- ripping both the land and 'imprisoning' societies apart.

However, in the midst of these CHANGES, creating your own heart-centered, renaissance culture will counteract this type of destruction. For, the world is being birthed anew.

On the land changes front, rock 'em, sock 'em, the earthquakes continue. This week brings forth more key info about the true state of Mother Earth, weather-wise and as far as fast-forming land changes. However, most likely, this info will only be found in alternative news.

From last week's forecast: "the following month will likely feature more serious volcanic eruptions and continued earthquake swarms. Of highest importance, the natural electrical field ramps up, causing superstorms that will involve the ocean. Also, some people will begin to notice the effects of this field as it charges the ground."

HEADLINE-SNIPPETS: "About 35 volcanoes are currently erupting across the globe!"  AND: "45 sinkholes open up in Kaski, Nepal - 50 families displaced so far"

On the magickal, mystical front, this week the 'Mages of Ages Lost' confront the deepest blackhole of evil. With lightblades whirling, they do battle against the Viper black magicians -- thus, to finally free humanity and Mother Earth -- thus, to free the magick beings we all are.

This will look like an escalating madhouse of societal insanity, especially in urban areas. At the same time, rises the noble human -- those of good soul and conscience who will use their inner powers to bring about a magickal renaissance.

On the personal front, this week will be ultra busy for most of us, and not simply because of the holiday season. For now, time hyper-jumps. Your speech pattern may even quicken. Also, you may feel like you're in a fast-forward movie.

Take time to intentionally slow down, if only for a short time each day. This will help keep you on track.

As always in these times, keep a close eye on your finances. There are likely to be major changes ahead.

On the paranormal front, the unprecedented, massive numbers of UFO sightings continue, as reported by Peter Davenport of the 'National UFO Reporting Center' ~ufocenter.com~

Also, the *High Strangeness Booms Haven't Gone Away* Here's a definitive report by Emmy Award-winning TV producer, investigative reporter, Linda Moulton Howe. "High Strangeness Before and After Montreal Boom and Blue Sky Flash" — Earthfiles ~earthfiles.com/news.php?ID=2149&category=Environment~

Life With Baby Doll: Tender Dominance and Sweet Submission

WARNING:  The links contained within this post will take you to sites with content for mature readers only.  However, this post is suitable for a PG audience.

origin_7190154510In a previous Life With Baby Doll post, I promised readers that I would share my romantic plans from last week.  John knew nothing about what I had planned for him.  All I had told him was the following:
“I’m taking you somewhere private to make love to you.  What I’ve got planned involves a bed, your body beneath mine, and our hearts joined.”
John and I have been friends for many years with a gay couple that also lives in Hot Springs. The pair own a lavish home on Lake Hamilton. Frequently, they are out of town on business.  One works as an airline pilot, while the other is a banker.
Since their jobs involve travel,  Baby Doll and I often look in on their residence when they  both have to be gone at the same time.  In addition to caring for their fish, plants, and collecting mail, the couple has offered us many times the use of their home as a romantic getaway in their absence.  Last Sunday night was the first time that John and I took them up on their offer. I can thank the upcoming Thanksgiving holidays for the invitation.
The five bedroom, seven bath home features a beautiful view of the lake. The great room’s architecture consists of floor-to-celing windows that look out over the water.  A perfect view of the setting sun was just one of many romantic events that I had planned for the evening.
Baby Doll and I arrived at the home close to five p.m., just in time for a beautiful display of colors.  As John stood nearby, watching the sun disappear on the horizon, I lit the fireplace in the great room.  Next, I made an inspection of the fully stocked wet bar in one corner of the room.
While Baby Doll and I are not frequent drinkers, I did make us both a cocktail that night.  His drink of choice is a Tom Collins, while I am an Old Fashioned sort of gentleman.  At that point, there was no denying my intentions for bringing my partner to such a sensual location on the lake. With the romantic and sexual tension beginning to flow between us, I joined John on the sofa in front of the fireplace.
As Baby Doll’s top, I’ve learned to recognize his subtle signals when he desires my attention.  He was letting those gestures flow freely, as his flamboyance was beginning to rage.  When John starts behaving in that manner, I’ve mentioned before that my thoughts mingle together, and my mind has difficulty in rational thought.
I remember pondering the idea of making love to him in front of the fireplace.  While the burbon in my cocktail was slowly warming my body, the handsome twink sitting next to me was fanning the flames of my passion.  I recently wrote a post concerning why I believe that John is a man in high demand.  While finding an openly flamboyant gay male in Hot Springs, Arkansas is a rarity, having one sitting next to you saying he wants to be taken upstairs is another.  Even more unlikely is that a dominant gay transman will be committed to one.
With John having made the decision as to where he wanted to submit to me, we finished our drinks before climbing the stairs to the master bedroom.  In keeping with the rest of the home’s decor, the bedroom is also a modern, sleek, exploration of masculinity.  Leather and crisp cottons in hues of black, gray, and steel blue comprise much of the furnishings.
After lighting another fire and dimming the lights, I had John beneath my body within less than ten minutes.  As our legs tangled, I laced the fingers on his left hand with mine, securing his arm above his head.  With a family at home, it is often difficult to be  as openly passionate in the bedroom as we desire.  That night, I wanted to not only physically please the man staring up into my eyes, but I wanted him to loose himself in my touch.
****
“I love you, Baby Doll.  While I know you’ll respond physically to my touch, I expect that sweet mouth of yours to tell me how good you feel, too.  Hmm, think my baby can do that?”
****
Our conversation quickly became erotic, as I was reminded of the tender dominance and sweet submission that has been a part of our romance for twenty-two years.  As a gentleman, I do not feel like I should share any more details in this post.  In addition it is my responsibility to provide not only John, but the relationship I share with him, a measure of privacy.  Even though I’m a very masculine gay man, I am also a romantic who recognizes the contrast between the two.
