Wolf Queen Reviews

By Stormy Glenn

Katia has loved Mikhail Nikolaevich forever. When her father dies, she goes to Mikhail for solace. Afterward, believing Mikhail doesn't truly care for her, Katia flees. By then, it's too late. The mating heat has started and must be completed or Katia will die.

But Mikhail is not all he seems. He's a Kindred and he's determined to have Katia as his mate. But first, he has to convince Katia that he does love her. That's easier said than done when Katia learns about the Kindred and that the man she loves turns into a werewolf. It's also complicated by the fact that Mikhail is leader of his people.

Mikhail has to defend Katia against a Council of Elders who believe she's an inferior human, and a band of rogue werewolves is out to kill them all. Can Mikhail save his bondmate before she gets challenged again, or will Katia have to fight for her life?

Reviews:

5 CHERRIES: "Katia is a great feisty heroine that proves her worth time and time again. Mikhail is a brooding alpha male who loves Katia with all his heart. The love and trust that these two show each other was a beautiful thing to see. Especially after Mikhail shows Katia his true world and she accepts him just the way he is...Katia is a great woman ready for anything and loyal to the end. She will not take any crap from anyone and proves it at the Convocation. With all the chaos happening around her and Mikhail, she still keeps her head on her shoulders and never looses her cool. This book had me hooked from the beginning. Stormy Glenn writes a wonderful story that combines just the right amount of action and romance to keep the reader glued to the pages. I truly enjoyed this story and would love to read more on the other characters in this book." -- Mistletoe,

4 DRAGONS: Stormy Glenn brings Wolf Queen to life with remarkable characters. I was taken by each of them as they showed their true colors throughout the story. You will be desperate to see how everything is worked through. Once the time comes for them all to stand together to defend the pack the gloves come off and Katia will simply amaze you. I would like to see more of Mikhail Nikolaevich's pack and how their pack members gain their own place in the pack and with their partners for life. What will Stormy Glenn offer next? I'm certainly looking forward to more stories from her" -- Judy King, Veiled Secrets Reviews

Spanish Eyes - getting great reviews!

I'm a very happy author right now. My historical romance, Spanish Eyes, was released Oct. 6, and already it's received two great reviews!!!

5-STARS***** In "Spanish Eyes" by Phyllis Campbell is a remarkable story of strength, romance, and determination. The sexual tension between Rebecca and Anton is so well written you feel the emotions of both characters. The story has many well written subplots that give it a fullness rarely found in romance novels. Although the sexual interactions are very explicit they are tasteful and believable. I enjoyed reading this story so much I would like to see more novels featuring these characters. This is a strong 5 star book that does not disappoint. If you curl up with this one be prepared to swoon. ~~ Marilyn Thompson / Mind Fog Reviews

5-STARS!!!! Ms. Campbell has penned a devilishly good romance with a healthy dose of suspense. The blend of intrigue, conflict, and sensual delights will have the reader hooked from the beginning. I am fascinated by the unusual type of heroine that I found in Rebecca; she is going outside the bounds of what is expected of women during this era. Her strength and tenacity combine to make her an unforgettable character. Her interaction with Anton and their ensuing relationship will keep the reader on edge wondering what might be the possible outcome, and what the journey will bring. The story is well rounded, and the secondary storylines add an extra level of enjoyment. I am already a fan of Ms. Campbell and, as usual, she does not disappoint; she has another winner in Spanish Eyes. ~~ Teagan Boyd / Bookwenches

**ADULT EXCERPT***

“The fact still remains our relationship is not based entirely on satisfying our desires.”

Rebecca threw him a glare. “That’s because we haven’t satisfied them at all.”

Anton’s heartbeat thudded in his chest, and his loins flared to attention. What made her speak of this? She knew how he felt. It sounded as if she wanted him to satisfy her...and this time, he wouldn’t let anything stop them.

“Then let us end the argument right now.” He took hold of her arm again, turning them toward the stairs as he led her below deck.

Her body stiffened, but she didn’t struggle. He assumed it was to keep the other passengers on the ship from watching them too closely.

“What are you doing?” Her voice rose.

“I am proving to you that sex is not the only reason I like you.”

“And how are you going to do that?”

“I am going to make love to you.”

“What? You contradict yourself, Señor Carrera.”

“No, because after I make love to you, you will see that I will remain by your side, protecting you until we prove my true identity. I will show you I do not just want you for your sweet, luscious body, whereas if Raúl had his wicked way with you, he would ignore you for the rest of the voyage.”

“Anton, please.” She squirmed, trying to release herself from his grip. But he wouldn’t let her go. He hurried below deck and to their room, closing the door behind them.

“Stop this insanity at once,” she hissed. “I will not let you do this.”

Anton stalked toward her, and she retreated. His arousal burned with the knowledge he’d get to prove his point soon. He must be insane, because all he wanted to do was take her in his arms and drug her with passion.

“Querida,” he whispered. “Do not think of it merely as a physical encounter, but as making love instead. We will be sharing not only our bodies, but our souls.”

The wall stopped her from retreating further, and she gasped. Her wide eyes searched for escape, but he closed in on her. He pinned her against the wall and rubbed provocatively against her.

First, he stroked her cheek, then brushed his fingers over her hair, pulling out the blue ribbon holding the bulk of her golden mass together. Waves cascaded over her shoulder, and he threaded his fingers through her glorious tresses. He stroked the silkiness once more before moving his fingers down each arm, continuing over her hips and thighs through her skirts.

“Querida,” he repeated, huskier this time. A craving took over his body, and he gave it free reign. “You are so beautiful, so desirable.”

She pressed her hands against his chest. “Anton, please.” Her breaths came quickly, just as his. The fast rise and fall of her chest showed her excitement. He took one of her hands and brought it to his mouth.

“I want to kiss every inch of your body.” He brushed his lips over her fingertips, and drew each finger into his mouth as he suckled.

“Anton.” Her voice softened.

She would stop him. But he must not let her. Not this time.

Anton turned her hand over and kissed her palm, running his tongue to her wrist. When he looked into her eyes, those golden flecks blazed with passion’s fire. He took her hands and placed them back on his chest, sliding them up and down his torso.

“Touch me, Becca.” Over the erratic beat of his heart, he flattened her hand. “Do you feel that? Can you tell how excited you make me?”

“Antonio—” she mouthed, her lids lowered half-mast, focusing on his lips.

This woman excited him more than any other, and once again, he couldn’t resist her. He placed his mouth over hers, and she opened for his probing tongue. A sigh released from her throat before her tongue mated with his. Although anxiety rushed through him, he also wanted to take it slow. This was her first time, and he didn’t want to hurry the moment.

Keeping his mouth pressed to hers, he shrugged out of his jacket. He hurriedly removed his neck-cloth and unbuttoned his shirt. When he broke the kiss, her attention dipped to his chest as he exposed himself. Excitement surged through him, making him want to continue. Shrugging free of the silk shirt, he let it fall to the floor.

Her hands explored his bare chest, spreading pleasure over him. Pleasure he wanted to drown in. He closed his eyes. Soft, delicate hands touched the muscles on his neck, his breast, then lower to his stomach, only stopping when her palms came to his trousers. Inside the material, his arousal pulsed with anticipation, but she didn’t stray there. Instead, her hands wandered back up, retracing their path.

When her fingers slid over his erect nipples, he opened his eyes. Fascination displayed on her face. Her amber orbs were heated, and she licked her lips. She bent her head and pressed her lips to the small patch of hair on his chest. Groaning, he closed his eyes. Heavy breaths escaped between his teeth, but he let her do with him as she wished.

The paranormal in my fiction

Paranormal elements creep into almost all of my fiction. Why? Because eerie, hair standing up on the back of the neck moments do happen in life, Also because I place my characters into strange situations and unusual settings, where their senses are heightened to an almost supernatural state.
In real life, people can experience extraordinary things. A woman I know of was passing a man on a staircase and a thought entered her mind: this is the man you are going to marry. She dismissed the idea as absurd - but it happened and they are still married. In life, people under stress can do extraordinary, almost superhuman things. The woman after a car crash lifting an engine block to free her trapped child beneath. We can all experience feelings of disquiet, of something being 'off'. We can all have dreams which can stalk us.
This is very much the stuff of fiction. Romance especially lends itself to the paranormal and supernatural. When we are in love we feel to be in a transfigured state: all senses and emotions are heightened. In addition, I write romantic suspense, where my characters are in danger and those warning senses we have are on high alert. I also write romance set in the past, at times in the far distant past, where beliefs in spirits, strange creatures, omens and gods were part of everyday life.
In modern life we tend to separate religion and state. In the past belief in supernatural forces, particularly malign supernatural forces, was far stronger. How else could people in the ancient world make sense of what happened to them and around them? When the causes of illness were not understood it would seem logical that an outside influence - an angry god or an evil spirit - had targeted that person or that animal.
Belief is a powerful force. If a character believes he or she can do something out of the ordinary, then sometimes they can. In my historical fiction I use the beliefs of my characters to allow them to tap into something larger than themselves. This 'something' can be a thing of delight or of terror. It is the wonder of the story-teller, used in tales before humans devised writing. And when we did begin to write, ghost stories, paranormal stories 'spooky' stories, were among the earliest tales we committed to clay, papyrus or parchment.
Here are a few paranormal moments from my novels. The first is based on an ancient Roman ghost story of a haunted house, which I adapted to use in 'Flavia's Secret'. In this excerpt, the paranormal is used to show wonder and delight in a special, secret place; a place where Flavia finds the strength to tell Marcus her own deadly secret.

EXCERPT:

Walking quickly, to show that she did not regret her decision to share this place with him, Flavia returned along the twisting beaten-earth path between the rampant rosemary and lavender bushes. One more twist of the path and they reached the heart of the garden and its startling secret—a private outdoor pool, its shimmering waters steaming in the sun.
‘By Mithras, what a place.’ Looking around, Marcus halted beside her, dropping onto his knees to test the waters of the deep, lead-lined pool. ‘It’s hot!’ he exclaimed, shaking moisture from his hand.
Flavia pointed to a large lead pipe leading away from the pool in the direction of the deserted house before it was lost in the luxuriant undergrowth.
‘We think the owner fixed a conduit somewhere off the spring waters of the Aesculapius spring and directed some of the thermal water here,’ she explained. ‘The pool drains somewhere, too, but we do not know where.’
Marcus sat back on his heels. ‘We?’
‘Those of us who come here, when we can.’
‘Your own private bathing place.’ Marcus jumped to his feet again and walked around the marbled perimeter of the pool. ‘I am surprised nobody has tried to make money with it.’
‘We are careful who we tell,’ Flavia said, squashing disappointment at Marcus’ mercenary approach, but he was staring across the sun-gilded water at the leaf-strewn timber portico leading to the deserted house.
‘I am not surprised at that,’ he said quietly. ‘It is beautiful.’
He watched a small breeze tumble a bronze oak leaf along a small marble walkway leading from the semi-derelict portico to the edge of the pool. ‘Mysterious, quite eerie, but also...comforting. As if you are in an entirely different world.’ He turned about, pointing to the sparkling spiders’ webs on the lavender bushes, rimed with heavy dew. ‘Somewhere forgotten by the rest of the city. A place where magical things become possible.’
‘You understand,’ Flavia whispered, breathing out in relief.
He smiled. ‘It is more than likely that the old owner saw an easy chance to grab some free hot water, but what he has made here, what time has made...I am not surprised he was thought to be a sorcerer.’
Marcus held out both hands to her. ‘Thank you for sharing this, and be assured—your secret with be safe in my keeping.’
Flavia walked to the edge of the secret pool and joined him in studying the waters.

In 'Bronze Lighting,' set in Bronze Age Europe, many characters believe in and practice magic. Here Fearn and Sarmatia, hero and heroine, are taking part in a sky ritual, a dangerous rite that they believe may unmask a murderer.

EXCERPT:

By this time it was early evening. A pall of dark clouds had gathered over the Sacred Hill. The sun hung over the eastern hills like a bloodstained shield. Fearn looked up at the sky.
'The God will come here when I summon him and we must be ready. Each of you strip off your gold, your silver and bronze. The Sky God does not like the gleam of metal on others.'
He lifted the bronze diadem from his head and laid it on the grass. 'Pile your ornaments here together. Give it to the earth for safekeeping. Quickly!'
At his command, Atterians broke their circle and came to heap their metal broaches, swords, arrows, arm-rings and finger-rings upon the King's diadem. Sarmatia watched Laerimmer take off his golden throat disc and glanced down at her own bronze ring, reluctant to remove it. Looking up, she saw Fearn walking towards her.
'Must I take off my ring?' she asked in Kretan as he reached her. Fearn answered in the same tongue.
'I fear so, Sarmatia.' He looked at her. Men were still gathered about the growing heap of metal. He and Sarmatia had a moment together.
'What is this ritual?'
'Nothing you need fear, Sarmatia. The Sky God knows our hearts. He does not touch those who are innocent. Twice now as King I've been asked to do this rite. The God may take some of our metal as sacrifice and payment, but that's a small thing for the truth.'
Sarmatia took off her bronze ring and gave it to Fearn. 'You must put this with the rest, Fearn. I can't.’ Then, although she already sensed the answer, she asked, 'Is the Sky God the same whose shrine is the Great Stone Circle?'
'It's the same God. And this is the rite the southern kingdoms have forgotten.' He turned and left her.

There are gods in my novels, too. In 'Blue Gold' the gods of ancient Egypt watch mankind from the sun-boat that crosses the sky each day and they sometimes interfere more directly.

EXCERPT:

“What happens now?” asked Astarte-with-the-moon-in-her-hair.
The eastern goddess of love was paying another visit to the sun boat of Ra. She thought the climate good for her complexion.
The blue god Amun, casting an admiring glance at the silver-haired goddess’s shapely long legs, mumbled something about a race. He ran his hands through a thick fleece of cloud, parting it with his fingers. “Look below us. There is my Pharaoh, a true Egyptian.”
“Ah yes. Sekenenre. The king who toils like an ant. He certainly looks to be making haste.”
Astarte leaned forward, the corners of her eyes crinkling at the sight of Sekenenre and his retinue of priests running their chariots again and again at the same high dune instead of doing the sensible thing of going round it. At her high vantage point, the fifteen chariots moving with such fanatical haste from the small water course where they had hidden their ship looked bizarre, like weevils.
No one on the sun boat reproved or remarked on the goddess’s comments. Those long, shapely legs were even better when she bent over the gunwale. From the middle of the boat came a muffled exclamation as the soul of the long dead Pharaoh Unas dropped the sun god’s fan.
“Fool of a mortal,” said old Ra sharply, squirming on his throne, crossing hands over thighs.
Astarte looked round over one shoulder and smiled, but she reserved her warmest look for Amun. “He is a long way from Thebes, your Sek-en-enre. Did you send a dream to instruct him? Does this true Egyptian know where he is going?”
“Pay no attention to anything Amun says. Sekenenre’s dash into the desert is due entirely to me.” Set materialized at her elbow. He directed Astarte to look over the other side of the boat. “Here’s my man.”
Aweserre’s chariot scuttled jauntily along below them.

In ‘Blue Gold’ when these two pharaohs meet, it is a clash of arms, force and beliefs and it leads to the unleashing of more paranormal forces.

Happy Halloween!

Wednesday's Words for October 14, 2009

Being a writer isn’t easy. Yes, sometimes the writer has considerable talent, and whether or not you have talent really isn’t your call, it’s God’s, which is a gift. But all the rest of it you have to forge, you have to work at yourself. And it can be very hard work.

The best writers write with passion, and I’m not necessarily talking about the kind of passion you’ll find in romance. Although if you do write romance, it had better be pretty darn passionate.

Writing with passion means your emotions are involved in the piece you’re crafting. It may also mean that you passionately believe in what you are writing, and that passion of your own belief gives your work not only the ring of truth, but strength of character.

I’ve read the works of authors who use mainly their intellect to craft a book, as opposed to their emotions. I would have to say, for the most part, it shows.

So my question is, what do you do when your emotions are otherwise occupied – that is, when life does what life always seems to do and throws challenges your way?

It just so happens that I have several friends, writers all, who are going through emotional hell right now. And to a one, they worry about whether or not they will be able to write through this time of turmoil, or even after it.

It happens to all of us from time to time. And maybe, because we are writers – artists, if you will – when our lives go into upheaval or when things take a negative turn, it affects us more than it does other people.

I have an expression I use with regard to my writing. In fact, I used this expression in a book I’ve written that may or may not ever see the light of publication. And that expression is: much of life is metaphorical water for my writing well.

Everything I experience, good and bad, everyone I meet, every place I go, in short all that I live, goes into my well. And it is from this well that I draw in order to write.

I have a unique interpretation of that old saw, “write what you know”. Some people take that to mean, write only what you have experienced, that, for example, if you’ve never been a doctor then you cannot write about being a doctor. If you’ve never been to Northern Nevada, then you cannot write about Northern Nevada. My translation is that what I write isn’t about being a cowboy or a doctor, a King or a thief. It’s not about being in Northern Nevada or Boisdemer. My stories are about the people and their journeys through the emotional minefields of life.

The circumstances of my novels may be fictional, but the emotions, and the mental wrangling of the characters, their challenges and their ordeals are real.

For that reason, the negative things we go through in life are given a positive turn, as they serve to help us, as authors, connect with more of the greater “life experience”. They help us tell stories that because of this emotional connection, touch more readers.

My advice to any writer who is going through emotional hell, is to write about your hell. No, maybe you can’t work on your w.i.p. right at this moment. But you can write, because that is what you do, and for a lot of you, like myself, that is what you are.

The writing will get you through the hard times. And the thoughts and feelings that you pen, even if no one else ever reads them, will serve to help you grow as an author, just as life’s challenges help you grow as a person. Writing it all out will also serve as extremely inexpensive psycho-therapy.

The writing will help you heal.

Love,
Morgan

Faith of the Heart ~ 4.5 Ribbons from Romance Junkies!

My thanks to Dottie of Romance Junkies for a beautiful 4.5 ribbon review of the fourth Damaged Heroes story, Faith of the Heart!

Here's what Dottie had to say:

FAITH OF THE HEART, the fourth book in Sandy James’ DAMAGED HEROES series is a tender, heartwarming romance, which is unforgettable. It may move you through a range of emotions, from laughter to tears. Sarah felt so bad about Charlie’s death that she feels she must save as many people as she can in spite of the detriment to her health. She feels this is the only way she can gain forgiveness for his death. Sarah’s only life is saving people, for which she wants nothing in return. The doctor’s reports confirm that they are healed. Sarah even keeps a photo of each patient she has healed and posts them on her wall, feeling closer to them than her own sister. Josh feels even worse knowing there was a way he could have saved his wife, but seeing Sarah’s kind and selfless manner with everyone, he falls for her. Sarah is one DAMAGED HERO that I would not mind imitating. We need more kind and unselfish people like her. Filled with humor, spirituality, an uplifting plot, well-drawn charismatic characters and a tender romance, this unforgettable story is a winner. I recommend FAITH OF THE HEART to anyone looking for a great read.

Angelic Forecast ~ #58

FROM LAST WEEK...

You are her Maker. Your frequencies will correct the malfunction.
“I hope so,” I murmur.
Sarius leads me down a ramp and suddenly we are outside, among the other horses. Their gazes are welcoming and curious, their ears alertly pricked.

TO BE CONTINUED...

My stomach quivers with uncertainty. Yet, my legs move toward the exquisite foal as if they know and a ‘knowing’ surges through me.
“Beautiful One,” I murmur, then kneel down. Offering my palm, I watch as the tiny beauty sniffs. Her small puffs of breath are warm and make me think of enchanted mist.
I don’t remember, yet, I do... the creation of these horse sentient beings. Amazing scenes flash by my mind’s eyes and it’s as though I’ve entered an entirely different world, so dissimilar to the world I live in, it confounds me.
For a moment the two world collide and clash together in a mishmash of sensations and knowledge. Then, I’m reaching out to touch her neck. My palm flattens on the dainty shape.
Energy stirs, becomes a whirlwind inside me and I feel it flow vigorously to my hand and inside her. I run my hand down her delicate body, the sensations as fierce, as healing.
It is as though I can feel the mend occur within the structure of her genes. They twine, re-ordering themselves. The moment the healing feels complete, I stroke my palm from her.

TO BE CONTINUED...
~~~~~~
This week brings the opportunity for enlightenment. That is, the kind of realizations that are based in practicality. It is a chance to newly order the mundane tasks of your life in ways that will serve you better.
This week also brings huge tides and storms of emotion. It will seem as though parts of the world are frothing at the mouth, rabid for destruction of any kind. These ‘mad dog’ players on the world stage will pay attention to nothing but their old worn-out agendas. They will expect compliance from others where there is little compliance to be had.
The human race as a whole has arrived to a ‘leaving of the nest’ stage that can be compared to the character James Dean played in Rebel Without a Cause ~ the difference, there is a cause.
Murphy's Law ~ 4.5 Ribbons from Romance Junkies!
I was so pleased to have Dottie at Romance Junkies review Murphy's Law ~ the first book in the Damaged Heroes series. My thanks to Dottie, and I'm thrilled you enjoyed the book so much!
MURPHY’S LAW, the first book in Sandy James’ DAMAGED HEROES series, is a touching, uplifting romance that you will not soon forget. Seth acted out, destroying cars, trying to get his father’s attention. But all too soon, his father passed away before they had a chance to attain the closeness that both of them wanted. Unbeknownst to Seth, his father Sterling had changed his will. Now Seth must prove himself before he can inherit his father’s wealth. Sterling loved horses and watching Katie work with horses, he greatly admired her. So, in his will, he stipulated that Katie was to train Seth as she trained her horses. This book grabbed me from the first page and held me right up to the end. I could not put the book down since my curiosity got the best of me and I had to know whether Seth chose Katie or the money. Brimming with witty dialogue, charming characters, an interesting plot and an inside look at harness racing; this story is a winner. I recommend MURPHY’S LAW to anyone looking for a terrific read.
That Shiny, New Book Cover Smell!
*deeply inhaling!*
Mmmm, I love that! Not just the smell of fall, which briefly arrived here in southwest Florida for all of thirty tantalizing seconds before it was once again swallowed up by our tenacious tropical summer, but the shiny new pretty that arrived in my in box! (Yeah, I know, files don't "smell," but humor me, please?)
This is the cover for my novel (writing as Tymber Dalton) "Safe Harbor," coming soon from Siren-BookStrand!
Blurb:
m/m, mmf menage, BDSM, anal sex, toys, public sex/exhibition
Clarisse Moore flees Columbus to escape her abusive ex-boyfriend -- who's a cop. She ends up in Tarpon Springs, Florida, on the Dilly Dally, her uncle's fishing trawler. She doesn't know it's been sold.
Brant MacCaffrey's sister was abused and brutally murdered by her husband. So when Mac discovers Clarisse on his boat, beat to hell and back, it conjures painful memories -- and a desire to save her.
Sullivan Nicoletto is a retired cop shot in the line of duty. Mac's his friend, lover -- and submissive slave. Sully might be a Master, but can he earn Clarisse's trust and convince her they love her?
The men are determined to protect Clarisse, and she in turn accepts their unusual Master/slave BDSM relationship. As passion and her own hidden desires blossom under their love and guidance, can she master trust when her past endangers them all and threatens to destroy her Safe Harbor?
Can't wait for it? Well, you're in luck! Because on Monday, Oct. 12, my next Siren-BookStrand release, "Love Slave for Two: Beginnings" will be officially released. Unfortunately, a series of heartbreaking betrayals makes him doubt not only truths he once held about himself, but shatters his trust in others.
Thomas Kinsey wants to carry on his father's legacy and become an architect. His family and upbringing couldn't be more different than Tyler's, but he hides a secret he's afraid to admit for fear of testing his strong family bonds.
Wednesday's Words for October 7, 2009
Turkey day is coming to Canada next Monday—the same day, this year, as Columbus Day in the United States.
It never fails that when I think of Thanksgiving, I recall my school days and the colourful renditions of pumpkins and pilgrims, Indians and The Mayflower and of course, turkeys that we made to decorate the walls of our classroom. I don’t believe it ever occurred to me that we were using American symbols to illustrate our Canadian holiday; the truth is we likely stole the holiday in the first place. What else would we have used to depict it?
I try to live my life each day with an attitude of gratitude, but like most people I focus on that a little more as Thanksgiving draws near. This is the time of year we tend to think of our blessings more than any other.
This year it seems a little harder to find things to be grateful for than in years past. So many people I know are going through really tough and challenging times, not just financially, but emotionally and physically as well. Over the last year, lives have changed course, some marriages have ended, families have been torn apart, and some lives have even been lost.
Then there are so many people scrambling, trying to make ends meet with work hours diminished or jobs gone completely. More people are in need this year than ever before.
Every once in a while I fall into the trap of feeling sorry for myself. It doesn’t happen often but when it does, God always gives me a boot in the butt. Whenever I begin to think I’ve got it rough, I find someone who is much worse off than I am. In those moments I hear a voice chiding me, and that voice sounds amazingly like my mother.
Living in North America we do, of course, have much to be grateful for. Even in these hard economic times, we have blessings many in the world can only dream of. We don’t have to fear bombs falling on our heads, or government soldiers breaking down our doors and carting us off. We may be restricted in our activities by money and time, but otherwise we can do with ourselves and our lives as we will.
We can worship or not according to our own conscience. We can freely elect whichever candidate we choose or we can freely elect not to vote at all.
In our family, even though Thanksgiving itself is always on the Monday, we tend to have our big dinner the day before. When we lived in Flamborough, Thanksgiving meant a trip to the Fair – that would be the Rockton World’s Fair (as it is always billed) followed by the usual turkey feast at home.
We haven’t been to that Fair in several years, even though it’s location is close to where my beloved works. There is a Fair in this town on the Labour Day weekend, and one Fair a year is enough for us.
This year, I went ahead and invited people for Sunday dinner. We’ll be entertaining my daughter and her son, as well as our second daughter and the children of our late son, and her new S. O. Our menu will be the traditional, minus pumpkin pie—because our second daughter doesn’t like it.
The house won’t be as crowded or as noisy as it has been for celebrations passed. We’ll be absent seven members of the family—including my daughter’s two step children whom I fear we will rarely see in the future—and our son and his family. As you know, having fewer guests doesn’t necessarily mean less work. I’m trying to plan how I can prepare some of the food the day before, so I’m not left trying to do everything at the last minute. Because of work schedules, the girls won’t be able to arrive until around dinner time, and so I’ll be preparing the meal on my own.
Some day, when I hone my diplomatic skills just a bit more, I’ll do an entire essay on my beloved’s effectiveness in the home in general and the kitchen in particular.
To my Canadian friends, I wish a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving. To my American friends, I hope that you get to enjoy an extra day of leisure with family and friends on Columbus Day.
Love,
Morgan
Sports Wives and Football Time in Tennessee
It’s Football Time in Tennessee
Here in Blountville, Tennessee, our blood runs orange. Our team, the UT VOLS, works toward a rebuilding stage with a new coach and a struggling quarterback. However, the spirit of the season is everywhere, especially here in my own backyard.
I grew up in a family of sportsbetting. My love for the games developed at a very young age and you’d better believe we had a genuine interest in what teams won on Saturday and Sunday. My father was a modern day cowboy, also known as a cattle buyer, middle man or livestock dealer. He only slowed down long enough to sit on the couch when the games demanded his focus. His mood for the week often depended on the outcome of those games.
With a profound love for sports, the Sports Wives series unfolded. I wanted to keep the novellas fun and light, remembering there are countless women who aren’t as in love with the game of football as maybe I am. My mother wasn’t a fan of football unless her sons were on the field and I realize some people never attend any sports event. Thankfully, a lot of women spend their weekends reading while their husbands stay glued to the tube. The Sports Wives books were written with those women in mind as well as those who like a quirky little character-driven romance.
Realizing there was a need for sports-related romances, Cassie Teller’s story more or less wrote itself and all three titles have sold extremely well, especially during football season. Wives uninterested in sitting through a game, choose a quick read bound to get their husband’s attention too. Jinger Heaston created sexy covers to guarantee the hubby looks away from the game long enough to inquire. Best of all, he’ll realize his lady knows a little something about football, not to mention love and romance.
Sports Wives books are written in first person with three e-books available and one print volume currently for sale at Amazon. I’ve included the blurb and excerpt for Book 3: Sexy is Never Ignored.
Blurb for Sexy is Never Ignored
But those living in the public eye seldom escape the press unscathed. When Cassie decides she wants one more man, a bitter ex-wife drives the press closer and closer to unveiling one very dark secret. Soon two professional football super-stars face the unthinkable--losing their careers.
Review for Sexy is Never Ignored
5 Cherries: "I have been a fan of Destiny Blaine since the very first book I read of hers and let me just tell you, this book is above and beyond any book than I had read from her yet. It was scorching hot and I am surprised the book didn't spontaneously burst into flames. The ending of Sports Wives 3 was brilliant and it couldn't have ended in a better or funnier way. If you are a lover of ménage writing, then Sports Wives 3 is definitely the book for you. If watching a football game on Sunday is not your thing, leave your man to watch it while you read this book and the outcome will be a very exciting afternoon. You will be a lover of at least football players when you are finished reading it. Be sure to have a pitcher of cold water, you are going to need it. This was an arousing and brilliantly written book and now I am off to read books one and two!" - Val, Whipped Cream Reviews
Prologue
Corby raised his glass and slowly tilted the rim in my direction. Our eyes held in a fixated trance across the crowded room. He brought the champagne flute to his lips ready to drink in the celebration.
He sipped and… he missed. Sometimes irony has peculiar timing.
I love two men. One took my virginity and the other is my husband, professional football player, Corby Teller. He’s responsible, in a sense, for the mass confusion in my personal life.
Thanks to Corby’s single-handed manipulation, Steve now lives with us. He’s the one who snatched my purity and claimed bragging rights many years ago. Yes, it’s an unconventional, if not kinky, arrangement. If some of the people I sit alongside tonight even suspected, they’d toss me out on my skinny ass. Instead, they shower kisses on my cheeks and fill my ears with compliments.
These are the same people who slandered my name only months earlier. The same men who wanted to grope me whenever they thought my husband and their wives looked the other way.
Before Steve moved in, the tabloids dubbed me the gold digger, an adulteress, a siren. Corby remains unscathed to this day. If the press only knew the truth. Of course, I’m not breathing a word to anyone. One slip in these circles and a couple can kiss multi-million dollar careers good-bye. I have a stiff upper lip and the truth is, I’m somewhat amused. Somehow our private lives have gone unnoticed.
If the public knew more about our private lives, and our intimate arrangement today, the name-calling would gain some momentum. Tonight, at least for the moment, Corby Teller—my husband—is Sports and Entertainment World’s Man of the Year.
The silent toast in my direction is symbolic. We’ve made it. We’ve arrived. We are the Tellers. The champagne spilled will go unnoticed but my very public affair never will. Because Corby Teller is Corby Teller, our threesome will never leak to the public, even if a reporter suspects it. Corby is flawless even with slight imperfections. People love him enough to look the other way.
Corby’s beautiful green eyes carry me to the edge of escape and then lock me into a wager of sorts. Down deep, he knows he deserves everything he’s receiving and at the same time, nothing at all. At least, not on this magnitude, most of those voting on Man of the Year might agree.
My name is Cassie Teller. My story is one few will ever believe, but most would move closer just to listen.
Angelic Forecast ~ #57
Painting from ~ http://juliajohnstone.com ~
FROM LAST WEEK...
Before my eyes a mansion-sized window appears. Frolicking below are other horses and their foals. My breath shoots inward and I feel my soul’s excitement and happiness. The scene looks all too familiar. “Another lifetime,” I murmur.
TO BE CONTINUED...
A time long past, but one that lives here, Sarius explains.
As I watch, my senses filled to the brim with joy at the horses’ cavorting antics and play, a mother noses her tiny baby in our direction.
At first, the foal appears exquisite, her white-pearl coat shimmering with the color, lilac.
“What’s wrong with her?” I burst out, my heart immediately aching.
A gene malfunctions. Mrepha needs your touch to heal her.
“How will my touch heal her?” I feel confused, yet something stirs inside me, a remembrance, a knowing that still remains as elusive as vapor.
You are her Maker. Your frequencies will correct the malfunction.
“I hope so,” I murmur.
Sarius leads me down a ramp and suddenly we are outside, among the other horses. Their gazes are welcoming and curious, their ears alertly pricked.
TO BE CONTINUED...
~~~~~~

This week brings forth another intensification. Those of good heart are elevated while those of corrupt heart are brought into the limelight, their bad deeds often spoken of as good deeds. The battle between light and dark takes on a whole new dimension, with one portrayed as the other. Up is down and down is up.
On a personal level, truth is one of your best allies. That is, the heart-pure desire to know what the truth is, no matter what. And only you can decide what that truth is, for yourself.
This week it’s all about your relationship with yourself and how it shows up in the outer world. Or, how you as individual show up in the world.

STORY EXCERPT

She shook his hand. As she appraised him, he did the same with her, although she had the distinct feeling his assessment went deeper than hers. He seemed well-built in a wiry athletic way. His long weathered face had a square jaw and dimpled chin. He had high cheekbones, and even when he smiled, his eyes had a sad look, reminding her of Sylvester Stallone. However, the eyes themselves appeared bright and jocular. “Nice to meet you, too, Billy Joe. Brenda Evans, but you already know that. Is that what everybody calls you, Billy Joe?

“Some call me Billy J or Billy. Some even call me BJ for short,”

“I think just plain Billy will do just fine. Shall we get my bags?” They walked toward the escalator that would take them to the baggage area. Billy kept lagging behind her. He acted as if he never saw a woman in a skirt and heels, from the way she saw him ogling her every time she glanced around. She stopped and turned toward her trailing chauffeur. “Are you coming?”

He rushed up to her and gave her a line. “I’m sorry, I just wasn’t sure a fine lady like you would want to be seen in the company of a cowpoke like me.”

“Tell me Billy, why don’t I believe you?”

He smiled. “I don’t know.” He winked. “But that’s one fine pair of legs you’re traveling on. I thought that Harper woman the bosses flipped over was hot, but you give her a run for the money. Plus I like blondes.”

Needless to say, she felt flattered, but she had a feeling Billy Joe would say just about anything that needed saying to land a lass in his bed. Around these parts, they’d call Billy a ‘ranger,’ a skirt chaser, always on the lookout for a new conquest. “I used to be a redhead,” she teased.
Billy stood with his mouth partially open for just a second, then stared at her with one eye brow up. “Yeah, I can picture you as a redhead—real nice too.”

At the baggage carousel, she pointed out her three bags and Billy scooped them up as if they weighed nothing. “Follow me.”
Walking behind him, she admired his broad shoulders and thin waist through his plaid shirt. His buns were nice-sized, tight and sensually rounded. Outside, he threw the luggage in the bed of an oversized gold and maroon crew-cab pickup truck, with “Tawny Hills Ranch” painted on the door.

Book Review:

Brenda was willing to put up with a lot concerning her fiancé turned husband but this was the last straw. Did he really think she would put up with his cheating on her--on her wedding day? Not only no, but a big hell no! Just like that her world has gone under. Concerned about Brenda, her best friend, Jasmine and her husbands Gabe and Ted treat her to a vacation to get away from the painful drama of her life.

However, eventually Brenda decides to come back home. She’s not going to let Kerry ruin the rest of life and happiness. Brenda just didn’t count on meeting the first two men that could make her a very happy woman.

The very sexy Brenda blows Billy away. He can’t help but stare at Brenda from head to toes. She’s is one sexy lady that he can’t wait to get to know better. Billy unwillingly lets out his friend’s name of Sal, his only competition.

Sal enjoys what he sees in Brenda. He wants her just as much as Billy does. Even though both men don’t want to rush things with Brenda, they can’t help but be impatient about her decision.

Brenda is overwhelmed about her desire for both men. She doesn’t want to hurt either one of them but Brenda is scared of getting her heartbroken.

Listen up everyone, Ms. Laura Ashton is back. Yes, you heard right, Ms. Laura is back to charm fans and new readers with the newest addition to her Sensual Awakenings series title called Sharing Brenda.

Ms. Laura gives readers a glimpse of what’s going with the previous main characters of her first title, Jasmine and her husbands, Gabe and Ted. Now the main heroine of this story is Brenda Evans with Billy Joe Watkins and Salvador “Sal” Rivas.

Billy and Sal both want Brenda but can they really share her? Brenda is willing to try especially since she can’t make a choice about these men.

Slowly Brenda opens her heart more and more with Sal and Billy. Brenda knows she wants them both but can the three of them really make it work? Would it be worth it?

And what do you know just when things are getting down right sexy and dirty between these three characters, Brenda’s asshole of a husband returns to get back ‘his’ woman.

What will Brenda do now?

I could tell you, but then someone would definitely hurt me for seriously ruining the ending for him or her.

Sharing Brenda is just the icing on the cake. You can never get enough of it. I am fascinated about the dynamics on Brenda relationship with her men, Sal and Billy.

I really enjoyed reading Brenda’s turn at being the main heroine this time around. It was great of Ms. Laura to include a mini background on her characters of Jasmine, Ted and Gabe. In addition, who couldn’t love Camilla, she’s just about the greatest lady ever!

I can’t wait to see just what Ms. Laura will cook up next.

I give Sharing Brenda a 5-Star rating.

About the author:

Having my book published is a dream come true. My first book, Jasmine's Urban Cowboys is the first of a series entitled Sensual Awakenings. I write about ménages because, although I've not been fortunate to participate in one (one can dream, can't they?), nothing seems sexier or stimulates my imagination more than my heroine enjoying two or more hunky partners of the opposite sex. Grrrrrrrrr!

I spend winters in Sin City and summers in Northern Arizona. Don't be surprised if I use those places as settings for my upcoming books. I lived near Dallas a few years ago, so that's why I used it as the setting for my Sensual Awakening series.

After a nightmare marriage and a bitter divorce, Jasmine is ready to celebrate big time.. Jaz meets Ted and Gabe, two deliciously attractive, available men.
