I am spirit. Barely clinging to my human persona, I pierce veil after veil as I zoom through dimensions. The variance in vibration is my only clue.
Suddenly, as if I've always been there, I stand on the sandy bank of a river. Before me are several small pyramids. Dune-gold in color, they appear to be newly constructed. A field of sand surrounds each of them. However, a beautiful tropical like jungle borders one side.
Egypt before it was called Egypt... before the reign of the Pharaohs. How do I know this?
Another time. Another life. Where Dhuroth and I first met... that realization slaps me upside the head.
Is he here, my lion man?
I scan the pyramid landscape, a part of me remembering. Intuitively, I turn, my gaze focusing on what appears to be a winding pathway through the bloom-lovely jungle.
Yes! In the distance I see him. He waves a greeting, and my heart leaps toward him.
For some reason, my feet don't move. I wait.
Astride a strange beast, which is not like any horse I've seen, Dhuroth rides toward me. Yet, he is not the same.
My heart flutters with love, and yet... who has he become? Unbidden, fear skewers my insides.
"Sh’raka, my one," he hails me. "Do not fear."
Yes, my lion man is reading my mind as he does. The urge to flee remains. But I don't. I wait for him, and wonder at the animal he rides. It looks to be a cross between a horse and an exotic antelope.
As Dhuroth nears me, everything inside me collides... a crush of heightened emotions. Strange images that have to do with this land flash in rapid succession. I feel out of place, yet not.
Everything is different. Yet, everything is the same.
"Have we died and gone to heaven?" I ask, once Dhuroth halts the creature before me, and meets my gaze.
After dismounting, he smiles widely, my lion man. The glimmer in the depths of his eyes is the same, and so wonderful. He reaches for my hand.
"Auto pilot," he says, as if that explains everything. Stroking the top of my hand, Dhuroth continues, "My craft is designed to fly inter-dimensionally, if a destructive hit is imminent."
"Oh."
"We are not on the other side, my woman. This is the designation I programmed for such a time."
