I haven't taken my eyes off the monitoring screen. Dhuroth and his fighter squad attack from every direction, zooming in, firing, retreating. They are like a diabolical, determined horde of mosquitos, biting, drawing blood.
Biting my lip, I watch while remaining in mind connection with my lion man. Careful not to interfere, I feel his warrior ferocity as he battles the leviathan mothership.
So far, knock on wood, none of our fighter craft have been seriously hit and damaged. The giant sphere has been stopped. Yet, why do I feel dread in the pit of my stomach?
In the far distance a troublesome speck appears. Immediately I zoom the screen to investigate. "Mygawd," bursts out. For an instant, shock consumes me. Then, I blink just to make certain.
'Another mothership,' I shoot to Dhuroth's mind, once he is clear of weapon's fire, after attacking the giant death star.
'Reinforcements,' he shoots back. 'How close?'
My stomach one big knot -- with everyone around me preparing to do battle to save our moon base -- I touch the panel to bring up the latest info.
'Halfway between Mars and the Moon,' I mind-inform him, even as my lion man makes another calculated diving attack.
I watch him blast an immense smoldering hole close to the royal living quarters.
