Some women are so naturally well turned-out. You’ve seen them, I’m sure. Everything they wear goes together beautifully. Their hair and make-up are done to perfection. Their flawless magnificence leaves you in awe. They are style, grace, and elegance all together in one package.
And then there’s me.
Well put together isn’t familiar territory for me, at least not without a lot of careful thought and planning.
Getting ready to attend the RT Booklovers’ Convention in Columbus, I gave a lot of careful thought and planning to my appearance. This time, I was going to do it right. This time, I was going to begin that thinking and planning weeks ahead, so that I could put my best foot forward. And what did I reap for my efforts? Well, let’s just say the Ashbury family had a lot of fine laughs in the last several days.
I arrived in Columbus yesterday wearing the universal travel outfit of blue jeans, blouse and sneakers. The event officially begins today and goes until Saturday. There are a couple of dinners, for which one either dresses in costume or in what we used to refer to as semi-formal wear. I don’t do costumes. Maybe someday I might, but not in my current mind set.
I’m privileged this year, along with some of my sister-Sirens, to be able to help represent my publisher in Club RT, and so each day I want to appear as professional as it is possible for me to appear. In order to do this, of course, I had to have a list.
I’ve made lists in the past as you well know, and they were all well and good. But this year I felt I needed something more. This year I needed a mega-list.
I wanted to plan not only the clothing I would wear for each “segment of time” – that is, for example, Wednesday during the day, and then Wednesday dinner and evening—but also I needed to plan my accessories.
I have some inexpensive and diverse necklaces, watches, and bracelets. I have four pairs of shoes (each of which was purchased for less than twenty dollars). Deciding which pair of shoes to wear with each outfit was simple enough; the jewellery was a bit more of a challenge.
For example, once I chose what looked best with each ensemble, how would I ever remember what I’d chosen, deciding a week ahead of the event as I did?
I came up with a simple plan. Since I had divided the time of the convention into eight segments for choosing my clothes, I put my chosen accessories into little baggies. Then I wrote the numbers, one through eight, on the baggies. Of course, some baggies have two numbers on them. One has one item slated for a third outfit, but hey, it all more or less has all worked out.
I fail to see what’s so funny about this. I thought I was going to have to scrape my entire family off the floor they were laughing so hard.
Here’s the favorite scenario: Knock at the door. “Morgan, are you ready?” Morgan: “One minute. I thought bag number three went with outfit number three but now, I wonder if I should take one item out of bag number eight? Or maybe, I should switch bag number eight for bag number two, and add something from bag number five. You go on ahead, I’ll catch up.”
My beloved, who tries valiantly not to laugh too hard on the outside while cackling like a hyena on the inside, said that he really shouldn’t say anything, because he never makes a list and always forgets something he’d really meant to bring. I told him he could rest easy, because his favorite joke—if I wear my Thursday undies on Wednesday, does it screw up my entire week?—wouldn’t apply this time, because I didn’t even put undies on the list!
To which he replied, sotto vocé, that he hoped I wouldn’t therefore forget to pack them all together.

Angelic Forecast ~ #86
“Fun?” I ask hopefully. “We could all use some fun. Right, Moon Dream?”My wolfess gives me a cheek kiss and I give her a smooch in return. “You are just so adorable,” I tell her.
“Volcano fun,” the Cherub tongue-in-cheek answers, sort of.
In a dash across blue skies, we skim above a long stream of thin puffy clouds. I catch glimpses of the land below, arid stretches, then jungle. “Mayan Pyramid?” I ask, as we zip overhead.
“The landing spot for Quetzacoatl in 2012,” the Heavenly One shouts.
“For real?”
“That is the plan.”
“Who is planning the return of Quetzacoatl?” I am always suspicious given there is already hologram technology.
“It is the Dragon’s return. Or those of the Dragon Spirit. Quetzacoatl is the name of a race. They are returning to Earth in this timeline.”
“Good, bad, beautiful, ugly?” I shiver visibly.
“It will depend on who you are. The big bad ugly guys who want control of the world are in trouble. The dragon’s flame is meant to wipe them out.”
“Oh.”

For the following week, hang onto your hat and batten down the hatches. Storms are brewing all over the world stage, literally and metaphorically. If you are threatened, take whatever actions are needed to take care of yourself and those you love.
How? Stay alert as never before. Follow your inner guidance system. And bring down the mantle of Grace and Protection. It is yours, offered to you by the Divine.
On a personal level, this is the time to learn more of the truth. That is, those truths that directly affect your life. By knowing them, you will be able to overcome their negative affects. If it is a ‘good’ truth, then you will benefit by being able to take advantage of new opportunities.
Smile whenever you can this week. Others will appreciate it.

Excerpt From THE SHOW MUST GO ON - Now available in print!
The last scene of Act One involved only Allyson and Matt’s characters. They had blocked the scene late one evening just before breaking for the night, but hadn’t had the chance to rehearse it beyond that. The script called for Victoria and James to share their first tentative kiss just before the blackout and intermission. Peter had explained that it would be one of those moments often seen in movies, where the two characters stare at each other for an uncomfortably long period and then draw in agonizingly slowly for the kiss. Allyson and Matt had heard the description, but they hadn’t acted it yet.
Allyson was nervous about it.
She tried hard to just think about the words she said and what they meant. Plus, as much as possible with a script in her hand, she maintained the eye contact Ginny and Clark demonstrated.
“What is it that you want?” was Matt’s final line, then she and Matt stood, three feet apart, gazing into each other’s eyes.
Most of Allyson’s brain forgot that she was playing a part as she looked at him. His blue eyes fixed on hers, and she couldn’t have torn her gaze away if she’d tried.
He took a step toward her, and her heart fluttered with joy.
She took her own step, bringing her close enough now to see the yellow flecks in his irises. They circled his pupils like fire, and when he took another step, she fancied she could feel the flame.
One more step and she forgot to breathe, thinking only of his eyes and of his scent and of the hand that reached out to touch her own.
As their fingers laced, he bent his head down. Her neck stretched back, allowing her to maintain the gaze that linked them tighter than their hands until she felt his breath on her face. Then she focused on his plump, pink lips, which inched closer and closer to her own.
The instant before their lips touched, she closed her eyes, prepared to savor it. And savor she did. At first, their meeting was feather light and sweet, and she relished the soft teasing. But it quickly grew more intense, their mouths pressing hard into each other as if to become one. Warmth radiated from their joining down her back to pour into her arms and legs.
She’d never experienced such delight and such yearning need at the same time. She relaxed into it, hearing a thud that momentarily puzzled her until she realized she’d dropped her script onto the stage. That and the catcalls and whistles from their cast mates in the seats brought her back to her senses. With her cheeks burning, she pulled away from Matt. His face looked red, too, and she thought she saw reluctance in his eyes. She blinked, trying to get her bearings.
“Curtain,” Peter called, joining the two of them on the stage. “End Act One. Take a break, everybody.” The cast in the audience scattered.
Peter cleared his throat and told his leads in a low voice, “Um, guys, that was not tentative. It looked great, but save it for Act Two, okay?” He cleared his throat again. “And those private times.” His eyes sparkled as he ambled away.

Does the volcano in Iceland worry you? It worries me.
I do a good job, most of the time, believing that I have some control over the circumstances of my life. I plan for the future, do what I can to take care of the present. I step out on faith every morning, which isn’t necessarily as simple as it sounds. I had triple by-pass surgery nearly eight years ago and I have diabetes, though that at least is under control. I know full well the day will come when I breathe my last, but again, I have faith that it will be some day down the road, a day of the Father’s choosing, and that the sun will rise and set after I am gone, and life will go on.
And then something like this volcano happens—unexpected, and from a place we generally never think about (apologies to Icelanders)—and all of my assumptions are shaken to their core.
We all of us understand there’re such things as natural disasters. Of course we do. We watch the Discovery Channel and see footage of hurricanes, tornadoes and earthquakes. We’ve seen pictures and videos from when Mount St. Helen’s erupted in 1980. Heck, we tune in to watch dramatizations of an asteroid strike or a sudden overpopulation crisis.
But we never think that any of those things will necessarily really affect us. We certainly never reflect on the possibility that something that happens a half a world away can change our lives.
As you read this, thousands of people are still stranded far away from their homes, waiting for the ash cloud to dissipate, waiting for airlines to return to full schedules, just waiting. This disruption to modern life is more than just inconvenient. Vacationers have run out of money, and have no place to stay, which means no food, either. People are bathing in airport washrooms because they have no place else to go. Some people are running out of medication, drugs that are needed to sustain their lives.
The volcano keeps spewing. This, combined with all of the earthquake activity in the last few months—more major quakes in a short period of time than I ever remember hearing about before—tells us that something is happening to our planet.
Something is happening to our planet and it’s scary stuff.
I don’t believe in all the hype given to the impending arrival of the year 2012. I just don’t. I’ve heard experts on both sides of the aisle, versed in the history and traditions of the Mayan people, argue for and against an apocalyptic prediction. End of life as we know it may sell movie tickets, but it’s not, in my opinion, a foregone conclusion.
Yes, I tend to look for the positives in life. But that’s not it. I just simply can’t really wrap my head around the concept that life could change so drastically, so quickly, and so permanently.
And then we get the eruption of a long-inactive volcano.
It’s so important to keep your bearings when things like this happen. I tend to immerse myself in the minutia of my life. Details and routines help and yes, I acknowledge there’s an element of denial at work there. I’ve successfully used that element as a coping mechanism for a great deal of my life, off and on. As a good friend of mine often says, denial is more than a river.
Nothing constructive comes from getting upset over what you can’t change. You just have to keep doing the best you can, live each day to the fullest, and have faith that everything will turn out all right in the end.
That’s not really denial; that’s the power of positive thinking.

Angelic Forecast ~ #85
“Yes, southern California,” the Heavenly One answers.We sail over the coastline toward the Baja peninsula, above the glassy ripples of the magnificent turquoise-green ocean. Suddenly, several white-silvery discs fly beneath us in a diamond formation.
“Extraterrestrials?” I ask, transfixed.
“Time travelers from the near future. They arrive on a mission to alter the timeline, as has been done many times by those who favor Earth and by those who do not.”
“Great,” I mutter. “Are they the good guys or the bad guys?”
“Their mission is one of compassion.”
The Cherub barely finishes speaking when a thunderous buzzing surrounds us. Moon Dream and I look around. “Omygod. How many are there?”
Somehow, I count the horde of black helicopters. Ten of them. Only these aren’t just regulation helicopters. These are black ugly beasts designed to destroy.
“They can’t see us,” the Heavenly One assures.
“I don’t think they’re the good guys, are they?”
“They are attempting to intercept the time travelers, halt their mission.”
“Oh, how I wish they could help all of us on Earth.” My heart aches for everyone innocent, who is suffering in these times.
“Want to have some fun?” the Cherub asks.

The following week is a moment in the spin of time that remains hidden, the final outcome unknown. It is wise for all of us to use our highest discernment, to remain spiritually connected with the Divine, and to send love over the Earth. To love each other as never before. For, whatever occurs it is love that will make the difference. Love, and then truth. For, the truth is likely to be obscured like the moon covered by storm clouds. It is up to each one of us to seek the truth, and act upon it.
On a personal level, make certain you are well supplied with the essentials, as if you were about to ride out a storm. This is merely wise and there’s no time like the present to gather up what you need, and store it for that time when you’ll be glad it’s there.
Like many of us, you may be holding your breath, waiting for the other giant shoe to drop. Honor this feeling, follow your inner guidance, and live your life.

Wednesday's Words for April 14, 2010
There can be no doubt whatsoever that spring has sprung. This is not to say that we might not still get a few cold days, or even a dumping of snow. This is southern Ontario, after all, and I’m old enough to remember snow in May.
I know it’s spring because each morning, just before dawn, I hear birds singing, and they are birds I only hear once spring has arrived and they sound so beautiful! What kind of birds are they, you ask? They’re...singing birds.
I know it’s spring because the lawns are all growing. Ours is green and yes, in need of being cut already. Mr. Ashbury isn’t the fan of outdoor work he used to be. He tells me he’s getting too old to cut the grass, so I may have to revert to hiring either a grandson, or a service.
I know it’s spring, because down at the place where I bought my winter tires, they have a sign that advises motorists to “get summer tires now!” I guess I will, in a few more weeks. Like I said, I can remember snow in May.
I know it’s spring because all through the neighbourhood, green shoots are spearing up in gardens, and some lucky residents already have blossoms of crocus and daffodils and narcissus. Notice I said “some lucky residents”. Sadly, my gardens remain barren.
In the fall, my daughter and three of my grandchildren planted bulbs. I know they did, because I was on the porch supervising them. They planted all the above mentioned flowers, and tulips, too.
One of the things I love most about spring is the flowers. When we lived out in the country, in the house that had been my mother’s I didn’t need to worry about spring flowers, for they came up in abundance. We had daffodils and narcissi. We had crocus and grape hyacinth. We had tulips, and lily of the valley! And then, just as those blooms began to fade, we had lilac.
Some days when the breeze was blowing in the right direction, wonderful fragrance filled the air, and my house. It’s been several years since I’ve had spring flowers of my own.
I had great hopes for this spring. I had purchased several boxes of bulbs, and watched as they were planted. But alas, so far, nothing is poking out of the ground.
I would have preferred to have planted the bulbs myself. Unfortunately, my yard is so uneven that manoeuvring over it is difficult. About the only way I can manage, as I would to weed flowers in the summer, is to lie down on the grass and kind of inch myself along, like a worm. Not a problem, and actually I kind of enjoy myself when I do the weeding. But that inch-worm imitation isn’t something to do in the late fall when the ground is cold and wet.
I doubt that planting the bulbs myself would have made a difference, anyway. This doesn’t really surprise me. Sometimes, I can have the worst luck getting simple things to work out. I also bought a raft of bulbs that I thought would go well in the squared off “garden” my beloved had made for himself a few years ago. I envisioned having a “cutting garden” and imagined my house continually blessed with vases of fresh flowers set about here and there throughout the spring.
Unfortunately, the sod would have had to have been turned (I did say the garden had been made a few years ago), and no one was interested in that job. Those bulbs sit in my basement, unloved and unused.
My determination to have at least some spring flowers is strong, and I think I know one way I might still be able accomplish this. I think I’m going to head to the garden center and buy already blooming tulips, daffodils and whatever else I can find in pots (my absolute favourites are the white narcissuses that have the red and yellow accents). Then I can plant them, not in what would have been my cutting garden, but at least in the garden that borders the house itself.
As I was considering this situation, I couldn’t help but recall how a dear friend of mine, now departed from this life, solved a similar dilemma for his wife one spring.
He went to the dollar store, bought plastic flowers, and jammed the stems into the ground. She came home to what appeared to be a profusion of colourful flowers—until she got close, that is.
I’ve never told Mr. Ashbury about this. I don’t want to give him any ideas.

Angelic Forecast ~ #84
“Stargate 2012?” I ask, as a sickening numbness takes over my body. Still, a Stargate at that time could herald a new beginning for humanity.“Ten million mini big bangs at CERN last week,” the Cherub reports like a newscaster. “It will take fifty million more to open a space in time, or a Gate, that few want on this Earth.”
“God,” I utter. Moon Dream presses close. I wonder which one of us needs comfort more.
“No, not the God particle.” The Heavenly One zooms us somewhere. “They are releasing the Destructive particle. That is the true goal of their masters.”
“No surprise there,” I mutter. “Wow, lots of good news, isn’t there?”
As we stop, the sudden sensation jerks me as if I’ve braked a car hard.
“There is good news,” the Cherub jovially asserts. He drops the cloud like a smooth ride down an escalator. “Many awaken and many are taking action to save themselves and their human world, to open Stargate 2012. There is much assistance from the angelic realm and from other humanoid races. They are cosmic relatives.”
“Oh, I so hope that’s true.”
“Your prayers, the prayers of all those seeking help are being answered.”
The cloud hovers, gently rocking for moments. I look down, curious as ever.
“California?”

This coming week and for several weeks, Chaos is likely to rule the world stage, surpassing what has occurred in the recent past. More and more, the truth will be released, however, and become known like the current crop of celebrities. More and more, light emanating from all those who are awakening will cause Mother Earth to become radiant with new possibilities for everyone.
On a personal level, it may seem like problems are dogging your footsteps. Solve the ones you can, the ones that are obvious. It is likely some of the other problems will resolve themselves or will have been caused by a miscommunication that rights itself.
Breathe deep, often this week, and proceed with caution, but with fierce determination. Ignore anyone who attempts to stop you from living as you choose.

This is the first book in the Immortal Love series and one that I enjoyed. A curious story of demons and nightmares. I found the whole concept interesting. As demon stories go, I thought this one was unique. Fearless Desires is a compelling story. Full of passion and destiny, very seductive. I loved Delius and his brothers. Stacey Espino has written a delectable tale - that takes you away.

Melissa’s Review:
Fearless Desires by Stacey Espino is book one in the Immortal Love series. It also seems that this is Ms. Espino’s first published work. Anyone who knows me knows that I am a sucker for erotic paranormal romance, and even more so a sucker for a series. I was immediately impressed by the smooth, captivating writing voice from, what I am assuming is, an inexperienced author. If this is Ms. Espino’s first book, I can only imagine her future books and the success she will experience in her writing career.
The premise in this book is new and fresh, and quite unique. Of course, I have read other paranormal romances that deal with demons, but the spin put on the demons in this book is one I have never come across. It was not only intriguing, but very refreshing.
Each character, main and secondary alike, made a big impact on this story with their very own flair and style. In the very beginning, when I was introduced to Delius’ brothers, I was almost overwhelmed and worried that maybe there would be too much going on with characters. However, I was very wrong. Each character added just the right amount of spice, but never overshadowed the plot, flow or pace of this book.
Delius and Selina were so much fun, even if I did want to smack their foreheads for them when they figured out Selina’s true lineage. It was obvious to me early on in the book, maybe a little too obvious, while being completely unclear to the characters. For me, that was my only disappointment in the book. I love it when suspense is thrown in and the need is there to keep guessing throughout the story, but I guessed this secret right away and it just became clearer that I was right. The bad part was, while it was clear to me, the characters didn’t even think in that direction. I guess maybe because I had more information as a third party looking in from the outside.
That being said, I simply cannot wait for the next installment in this series. I am so intrigued by the brothers, and if I remember correctly from my research, the next book will be all about Javen. I am certain his story is going to be even more interesting and explosive as Delius’.
If you are looking for a new erotic paranormal romance book or series, I do recommend that you pick Fearless Desires up right away. And if you are simply looking to try out a new author, Stacey Espino is certainly one to give a try. She earned a fast fan in me with Fearless Desires!

Yet even through her grey haze of sadness, she shows the occasional spark, and this keeps her from being a maudlin figure. Sarah's sister Hannah and her brother-in-law Doug fill the role of villain in this story, although calling them such may be a bit of a stretch. They are more annoyances than "bad guys." They are quintessential ne'er-do-wells and freeloaders, and the character Doug is almost comically so. Ms. James does an excellent job of making them individuals that readers can revile and boo and hiss at. This story is for the most part sweet and emotional. I certainly found myself sniffing a time or two, and then looking around to see if anyone on the bus noticed. The lovemaking scenes are sensual without being overtly graphic, and they fit comfortably into the rest of the narrative. I have a question. Why is it only women have the guilt gene?
You may know that I have as much respect for men as I do for women. I came out of the 60s and 70s without any feminist overtones to my personality. Sure, I might make a joke from time to time about women who seek parity with men lacking ambition, but I don’t really mean it.
Men and women are different is so many ways. The best of us complement each other, and I believe that is why we each have been designed the way we have by the Original Manufacturer. I do believe men and women are equals; but they are different.
For the most part I celebrate those differences. The only real imbalance, it would seem to me, is that women got an over-abundance of the guilt gene, and the men, none at all.
If you’re a man, and you awaken early on a Saturday morning, and emerge from your bedroom to a home that is in dire need of tidying and cleaning, chances are you will have no difficulty stepping over the mess to get to your coffee. You might eventually raise yourself up to set things to rights, but in your own good time.
If you’re a woman facing the same scenario, you will begin to tidy on your way to the bathroom, no matter how badly you need those facilities. Coffee will be a cherished goal for you, a reward to be collected once the job at hand is done.
If you’re a man, and the wind has come in the night and toppled the umbrella you thought imbedded securely to prevent toppling, blowing it dangerously close to where it might sink out of your life forever, you might have no trouble whatsoever shrugging your shoulders and carrying on to your golf game with a clear conscience.
If you’re a woman you’d waste a lot of energy and worry on trying to figure out how to rescue that umbrella, and feel guilty as hell when you realize you simply don’t have the strength to do so.
We women tend to feel guilty if we do anything for ourselves that could even remotely be considered selfish. But that’s not the worst of it. We feel guilty for working, and we feel guilty if we don’t work. We feel guilty if we do too much for our kids, and we feel guilty if we don’t do enough.
Most women seem to excel at taking care of others all the time. What causes this great giving of the female soul? It’s guilt, to some degree. We seem to be the ones who feel it is, not only our sacred obligation, but our destiny to take care of others.
Society does play into this, I assure you of that. Women don’t drive the engine on this particular vehicle all by themselves. Don’t believe me?
Have you ever gone to visit people—I’m thinking people you don’t know well. You find yourself in their homes for the first time and the place is a mess. Been there? I challenge you to deny that the thought that went through your head was, “gee, this woman isn’t a very good housekeeper.”
Now it could very well be, as one former acquaintance once said to me, that women like to feel guilty. Feelings of guilt, this person said, morphed into feelings of righteousness, and women live to feel righteous.
I’m not sure if I totally agree with that, or not. The unfortunate part is that I have known women who are like that, which kind of works against us all.
Now I’m not for changing the roles between men and women, overmuch. I love the maleness of men, their strengths which do come with their weaknesses, as do ours. I’m not asking for any kind of cultural or social revolution, and I for one certainly don’t want to burn my bra.
But if we could shave oh, about a quarter inch of guilt off of us and put it on the men—why, I think that would be a fine thing, indeed.

Angelic Forecast ~ #83
“Unleashing...” The Heavenly One continues my thought. “The heavens are about to open.”“What do you mean?” I ask, curious-er than all get out, yet frightened down to my soul.
I hug Moon Dream. She sits up beside me, a comfort, as we sail higher on our magic-carpet cloud.
“CERN,” the Cherub cryptically answers.
“The God particle,” I automatically respond. “What? Are we about to be swallowed up by one of those smaller than small black holes? In a sudden sucking flash humanity, all of us, are on the Other Side, in heaven?”
I catch a fleeting grin from the Cherub. “That’s a possibility, however, not likely.”
“Okay, they’re opening a universal Stargate. Whether they know it or not. Bad guys or the good guys, who arrives first?”
No, I’m not feeling all that charitable toward ‘anyone’ involved with the large Hadron Collider. In fact, I’m in reluctant awe at the ultra high level of their stupidity and their god-sized egos. Of course, it’s their ‘Masters’ who run the real show. And They know the secrets of technology far beyond the trivial knowledge given to the public at large.
“That is the question, isn’t it,” the Heavenly One answers my thoughts. “What is the dark agenda?”
“So, what’s the real story behind all the problems at CERN?” I figure I might as well ask, even if He doesn’t answer.
“Time Wars.” The Cherub’s purple-shimmering gaze meets mine, “and Stargate 2012.”
I did ask.

During the following week a new masquerade begins. No, not the lovely and lyrical masquerade balls that would be so enjoyable to attend, but a masquerade of such deception and darkness, it will utterly fool most of us, at first. However, the light of truth shines fierce and fast, revealing... to those who want to see... what is behind this so-called benevolent mask. The key is: do you want to see the truth?
If you do, you will. If you don’t, you won’t.
This could bring about a new level of divisiveness. Remember the ole maximum ~ united we stand, divided we fall ~ the bad guys and gals are using any and all methods to divide all of us against each other, and, thus, gain their victory over the world.
On a personal level look to nature this week. Whether it’s simple enjoyment of Springtime, or planting in your garden. Now, is a lovely time to learn from Nature and to allow Mother Nature to inspire you, as she is wont to do, as she greens and grows, regenerating herself. Yes, smile at the flowers.

My new release for Bookstrand-An Innocent Heart
Hello everyone!
I'm kind of new to blogging, but wanted to post that my newest book, An Innocent Heart, released on March 30th! This book is near and dear to my heart because it was the first book I ever wrote! I have to admit it took a LOT of rewriting and lots of patients from the editors (lol!) but it finally got there! Jinger did a lovely cover for it- she captured Harry's inter turmoil perfectly.
One of my favorite authors is Amanda Quick, and I used to love reading her regency romance books. My favorite of all time is Ravished. I think I might have read that book a hundred times, and it inspired me to write An Innocent Heart. I'll be having a contest for a free e-book soon, so keep posted!
