John and I had some exciting news to share this week.  In April, I announced I had begun the process of a legal name change. Finally, as of September 5th, I am legally Andrew Kyle Jericho. Also, at the DMV in Arkansas, residents can apparently choose their gender without a legal gender change. Elsewhere within the state this is not the case, so I took advantage of the option, and now have M on my license. My next step is to seek legal counsel on obtaining a gender change that will be recognized everywhere.
I will never forget Baby Doll’s response Friday afternoon, after I got off the phone with the circuit clerk’s office.  He put his arms around me and wept.  I am a firm believer that men can cry. While I don’t shed tears very often, I had a few that afternoon.
After forty years, I can finally be recognized everywhere by a name that represents my gender identity.  Others, outside of those who already called me Andrew, have to now by law.  Also, whenever Baby Doll and I are together in public, we are Andrew and John Jericho.
While John and I have always been committed as gay males, it is my desire our state will eventually recognize the partnership we share as a marriage between two men.  My name change also makes the following statement I shared in June all the more significant.
“As part of LGBTQ Pride Month,  John and I have changed our relationship status on FB from married to in a relationship. Most of you already know I am a gay transgender man. When my partner and I married in 1992, we were only able to do so because all of my documentation listed me as having been assigned female at birth. We are still committed to each other as partners, but now hope to marry as gay men when same-sex marriage becomes legal once again in Arkansas. At that time, we will be seeking legal advice as to the best method of dissolving our old union, perceived by the State of Arkansas, as between a man and a woman.”
On Thursday afternoon, we went to the court house to pick up my name change order.  Afterwards, our first stop was the DMV.  This week, I will be updating my name change everywhere.  The five percent of people we were not out to, will now know.  I hope their response is a positive one.

Later that night, John put his arms around my neck and asked me how it felt to legally be Mr. Andrew Jericho?  I smiled, and brushed my lips across his in a tender kiss. I told him Arkansas finally recognized what I’ve known to be true since the age of five.
The Life With Baby Doll series is a free weekly MM romance read on my Website that shares my relationship with John Jericho.
To learn more about John and I visit: Life With Baby Doll.  Due to the increasing popularity of the Life With Baby Doll series, I have created the permanent tab on my Website that contains information concerning our intense and passionate love affair as partners.
I enjoy hearing from all of my readers, and look forward to your e-mails. Remember Love is Love…Period.
