Sara is inexperienced with men, but finds her untapped sexuality is bursting beneath the pressure of lustful desires. Mitch works with Sara and knows office romances can go horribly wrong, but that doesn’t stop him from going ahead with his plan to seduce her. Soon, the two find themselves in an erotic game of pleasure. Their affair proves to be more than either of them anticipated. After only a couple of days their relationship intensifies into a firestorm of passion and they begin to fall in love.

Claudia works with them both and isn’t happy when Mitch rejects her advances. Not willing to take no for an answer she uses every form of manipulation to drive the couple apart. Is their relationship strong enough to handle the betrayal that they believe to be true? Or will the thought of losing each other be the catalyst to keep them together?

While working as a secretary, young and inexperienced Sara meets the more experienced Mitch. Once the two begin to hit it off a romance begins but there is another who wants Mitch for her own. Claudia has her eyes set on Mitch and intends to have him for her own at any costs even at the expense of other people’s lives. Can Mitch and Sara find love or will Claudia get what she wants?

This was an interesting story about finding true love and many of the trials and tribulations that go with it. I enjoyed watching the young and naïve Sara grow into a confident and sexual woman. Mitch may be overwhelming at times but the reader can see it is because of the intense feelings he has for Sara.

The love and the bond of trust that develops between Sara and Mitch was a good read. I love the way Mitch brings Sara out of her shell and not only tells her but shows her how much he adores her. These two characters endear themselves to the reader as much as Claudia gets you to hate her. Claudia is a manipulative woman with only her sexual pleasures on the agenda. When she achieves her goals, you begin to feel bad for the people she manipulates. The more you read this story the more you begin to wonder just why the others let Claudia manipulate them as well as she does. I for one was surprised at the turn of events that lead to the big revelations of why Claudia had so much control.

Nicole Morgan pulls the reader into the world of Sara and Mitch, easily keeping you there until the end. This book is a well-written and fast-paced page-turner that should not be missed.

Wednesday's Words for July 28, 2010

After three days of traveling, the Ashburys have arrived safely to a place they never would have imagined they would ever be: Disney World in Orlando, Florida. I’ll be honest and tell you that the RWA National Conference is one of the few events that could have compelled us here.

Nothing personal against this destination of choice for many vacationing families. I know that some adults even enjoy coming here, and do so on a regular basis, with no kids in tow. But Disney World has simply never appealed to either of us.

Our drive from Southern Ontario was good. We stopped in West Virginia the first night, and just outside of Savanna the second. Since we had been able to leave a day early, we were able to spend a day and night in St. Augustine. My beloved was thrilled, because he dearly loves the ocean. He got to go and play in the waves several times, and I do mean play. I watched him from the balcony of the small Inn we stayed at, thoroughly enjoying the sight of him jumping the breakers as they rolled in.

The resort here—specifically the Swan and Dolphin Resort—is a beautiful facility. We checked in on Monday, and since we were a few days ahead of any conference events, we spent the day relaxing, and enjoying the pools. They have a “grotto” area that is really nice, with the sound of the waterfall soothing.

We’ve been suffering “sticker shock”, of course. I personally don’t think it’s necessary to charge quite as much for food and beverages as they do. But then, I’m well known for wanting to get good value for my dollar.

Yesterday I went on a “pre-conference” excursion organized by one of the chapters of RWA to which I belong. We were bussed to Tampa, where we were given a tour of MacDill Air Force base. MacDill is home of the 6th Air Mobility Wing. Quoting from the base’s web site: “Our mission is to generate and execute Air Refueling, Airlift and Contingency Response, while providing base support for joint, coalition and interagency partners.”

I must say the airmen and women treated our busload of romance authors with high respect and great courtesy. We got to see a K135 Stratotanker. The pilots and one of the technicians who operates the “boom” were on hand to show us the plane and answer any questions we might have. Here I must confess that some of the finer points were lost on me. Mr. Ashbury would have been very happy to have taken this tour in my place. But it was fascinating for me nonetheless.

We also spent some time with folks from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, who provided us with a presentation on their work as “hurricane hunters”; and we had a tour of the Army parachute riggers outfit stationed at MacDill. These service members are extremely skilled in the job they do, and very conscious of and dedicated to the responsibility they have.

Each and every member of the military I was privileged to meet yesterday was a credit to your nation. Young and enthusiastic, they showed endless patience and professionalism as they answered every question put to them, as well as a deep dedication to duty.

Tonight the conference kicks off with the “Literacy Autographing”, an event that benefits literacy programs as all proceeds from the sales of books go to that worthy cause. This will be my first time signing at this event, as this is the first RWA conference I’ve attended as a recognized published author.

There will be speakers I want to hear, and workshops I want to attend. While Mr. Ashbury avails himself of some the sights of this extremely large place, I’ll be doing one of the things I love best: talking with writers and learning more about writing.

This kind of busman’s holiday always works to recharge my creative batteries.

Love,
Morgan

Angelic Forecast ~ #99

“Two tunnels,” I murmur. “The Maya?”

Mr. Dragonshifter regards me as if he’s a proud professor. “The other tunnel goes directly to Mexico City, and beyond. On the other side there is a fully buried Mayan city that was once a paradise and a cultural center for many races. The city was intentionally sealed against future intruders. That is, until 2010. No,” he forestalled my question. “I do not know the exact time for the un-sealing. It will depend on many factors.”

“Black ops hasn’t broken down the gates?” I ask, feeling downright dubious.

The Heavenly One laughs with ornery satisfaction. “The shadows attack them. They are mind manifestations left behind by the high priestesses and priests.”

Immediately, the Cream song, White Room, plays in my head. “Where shadows run from themselves,” I say. “Or, in this case where the shadow government runs from the shadows.” I pause. “Wouldn’t I like to see that.”

Quiet wraps around me. I wait, knowing, suddenly feeling a giant shift is about to take place on Earth.

“A collision of all that was in the previous Piscean Age,” the Cherub begins, “from time of the Christ to the time of the anti-Christ when angels cry... every era is to be concluded.”

With my stomach lodged in my throat, I whisper, “Concluded?”

During this week manufactured distractions will appear as reality on the world stage. The war drums will beat furiously as the need for freedom continues to gain momentum. A soul rising that cannot be hidden by the dark ones shines over the whole of humanity. Many who now see the false god behind the curtain will take action realizing they must protect themselves, those they love and the lands they love.

At this time, on a personal level, reach out to those you care about and those you trust. If they need help and you can help them, now is the time. Community is the word of the week, and for the remainder of this year. Form a community of like minds wherever you can. Look for ways to join with family, friends and neighbors. Learn about each other. It is crucial.

New Release - ANY WAY WEST

I had to add this release to the blog because Jinger Heaston did such a fantastic job with the cover. As authors we send her a minimal amount of information and she somehow instills the essence of the book's emotion into her covers. What a great talent!
What takes me pages and pages of written words, she condenses into one hot picture. Of course, the words are great fun to write, and I hope you enjoy reading them as well.

Wednesday's Words for July 21, 2010

First, Mr. Ashbury and I want to say a huge thank you to all of you who sent us your good wishes on the occasion of our anniversary last week. That was so kind of you! I especially loved the messages that told me I’d described your marriage, and there were several of those. Made me feel as if Mr. A and I are right on track.

As you read this today, I am furiously trying to get ready for our vacation. We’re leaving Friday, destination Orlando and the RWA National conference. We’ll be staying a week at the Swan and Dolphin Resort in Orlando. Then from there, we’ll head to Hazleton, Pennsylvania and our annual visit with our friends.

You would think that having done this sort of thing for the last few years, we’d have the process down pat. Ha! I wish. No matter that I have known this trip was coming up since the beginning of the year, here I am running around, trying to get everything done in just a few days.

You probably have surmised by now that I tend to procrastinate, just a little. I never mean to, of course. It just kind of happens. For example, left to this week was getting my hair cut, and then colored, renewing my vehicle license sticker, making the list of clothes I must take, cleaning out the car, organizing my office (which is to say, setting out all the books and other items I’m taking with me), pick up the auto club trip-tik (I ordered it last week)...there have to be other things I need to do, too, but they slip my mind at the moment.

My beloved is, of course, nearly counting the seconds until we leave. He loves traveling, no matter where it is we go. He’s accompanying me to Orlando this year, when he didn’t last year, and I’m wondering if the little guy with the big ears, the official host of Disney World, isn’t really the reason for that. He says not, but it’s fun to tease him about the possibility.

Actually, this conference was supposed to be taking place in Nashville, but the resort that had been booked by the RWA ended up being flooded a couple of months ago and is currently closed. So here we are, setting our sights for Disney, and happy to be doing so.

I belong to several chapters of the RWA, one of them an online chapter for mystery-suspense writers. This chapter organizes a “pre-conference” tour each year. This will be my first time going on this excursion. My beloved is jealous. He’d like to go. He’ll just have to find something to do while I’m away from him on Tuesday.

I wonder what the odds are of his spending some time with Mickey that day? I have to figure out the photo feature on my cell phone, just in case. Maybe I can sneak a picture of him wearing ‘ears’. I bet our kids and grandkids would get a kick out of that.

I know that he does plan to play at least one round of golf while we’re there, as well as to become very familiar with whatever pool strikes his fancy. And he’ll likely find lots of people to talk to. We have that in common—we rarely let the opportunity for a good conversation pass, and we both will strike up conversations with perfect strangers.

It’s kind of eerie how much alike we’ve become over the years.

I’ll be taking my pillow, of course, who has indeed earned the title “Squish the third”. And you don’t need to worry that I will somehow leave him behind. I have special “traveling” pillowcases for him, cotton so bright there is no way he fails to catch my eye.

I seldom make the same mistake twice.

Love,
Morgan

Angelic Forecast ~ #98

“There’s already a small city beneath the ruins, isn’t there?” I ask.

“There is a base for what you might say are an international force of black operations,” Mr. Dragonshifter explains. “And, yes, a small city.”

I let that surprising and not surprising information sink in deep as I continue staring at what I had so longed to see in my lifetime, the remnants of Atlantis. Or, anything remaining from the once great civilization.

It strikes me, what I’m going to call the ‘bolt from the blue’ syndrome from now on. “There’s a tunnel to the Sphinx or the Great Pyramid, isn’t there?”

“Yes,” the Heavenly One answers. “It’s being used on a regular basis now.”

“What? Does it go the Sphinx’s paw... you know, Edgar Cayce talked about the ancient library.”

Silence whips around me. I look around to the Cherub. He nods while his purple eyes glisten somberly.

“There are two tunnels.” Mr. Dragonshifter touches the screen.
~~~~~~
Get ready. During the upcoming week and for the period of a month, the level of tension rises exponentially. Challenges will rise like the Hydra. And, there will be little relief. On the world stage, more and more, the dark side shows itself, acting under the guise of protecting us all. What many thought would never occur, could never occur in their lifetimes, ‘does’ happen at this time.
Also! The AWAKENING of humanity is happening. Good vibrations... excitations! As sung by the Beach Boys. It’s all around us. Feel it. Say it. The more you speak about this vibe, the more you will bring it into your life, and into the lives of your loved ones.
Again, for this week. CAUTION is warranted in all areas of your life. Once again, keeping a loving eye on your family and friends. Now is the time to stick together. Now is the time to ‘love’ together. Now is the time to plan a future around how to remain together in such a way that it helps and assists everyone.
HEA Reviews - Eris Gets 5 Tea Cups
Eris has gotten a second review from Happily Ever After Reviews.
"I cried, laughed, had moments of incredible frustration, but in the end fell in love... This is a must read for anyone who likes time travel romance..." ~ Yadkny, Happily Ever After Reviews, 5 Tea Cups
Eternal Truths Series, Book 1
Time is on their side and they can be together, assuming the truth doesn't ruin everything first.
Immortals born in the thirteenth century, Lucien Riordan and Ranulf Styr have waited centuries to be reunited with their love. Want for her cemented their friendship through time even as it tore it apart. She changed their lives, made them want better, and they plan to show her that. There’s only one catch—she’s never met them before.
Eris Brue is flattered by Lucien and Ranulf’s attention but they are her bosses. She doesn’t want to get tangled up in an office romance, especially not with two men. Their joint seduction overcomes her resolve and she gives in even though she knows they are keeping secrets that could doom their relationship.
Centuries of planning have finally come to fruition. Lucien and Ranulf have a short amount of time to make Eris love them, because once time has her, everything could come to an end.
Wednesday's Words for July 14, 2010
Thirty-eight years ago today, Mr. Ashbury and I were married. I was one week to the day shy of my 18th birthday, and my beloved was an older man of 19 and a half.
We were married on a Friday evening in the small Anglican Church I’d attended all my life. David wore a brown suit, and I a mauve dress. My mother, you see, forbade me to wear white as I was expecting our first child at the time.
We have no special plans for today; we’re going out to dinner on Saturday instead. Sometimes we get each other cards and gifts, but usually not. That’s a holdover from the days when every penny went to seeing to the kids.
We’ve had our share of hard times, and tragedy and we’re still together. I’m not sure if that fact is a testament to our devotion to each other, or our individual stubbornness.
We’ve had people from time to time ask us what the secret is to a long and happy marriage. And, from time to time, depending upon our mood, that answer may vary. But at the base of it, at the core, we both agree that we have stayed married to each other, because we chose to.
Ah yes, Morgan is fond of saying that everything in life is a choice. It really is!
Staying together as husband and wife is a choice. Our marriage isn’t perfect. We’ve both made mistakes and said things that we shouldn’t have said. We’ve each been furious with the other. And yet, here we are, still a couple when no one we knew on our wedding day believed we would last.
Marriage after thirty-eight years is as much a habit, I suppose, as anything else. Of everyone I know in the world, my beloved is the person with whom I’m most comfortable. I know he feels the same about me. After all these years, we accept each other, warts and all. We can sit around in our sketchiest clothing, and not worry what the other thinks.
Everything in life, over time, changes. Relationships are no exception. I suppose there are some for whom, after an equal number of years together, passion still burns hotly. If you and your mate are among that breed, then you’re my new heroes. For the Ashburys, passion has given way to comfort. That sounds staid, and boring, but it isn’t, really.
As you get older your capacity for excitement diminishes – at least ours has. Now we treasure time together in different ways than we did in our youth. Our amusements are gentler, but I believe we get more out of every moment now than ever we did.
There are fewer things these days either of us considers important enough to squabble over. We’ve learned that our best happiness is built on compromise. Neither of us needs to have our way even half of the time, and we are comfortable enough within ourselves to know that it’s all right to disagree about things—even important things.
One of the habits we have that we believe has contributed to our staying together is that we talk to each other every day. He tells me that when he talks to the men he works with who are married, none of them spend time talking with their wives.
We discuss things, be it items on the news or things we’ve read. We share new discoveries, and old memories. We communicate, and for the most part, we listen—although I do tease Mr. Ashbury that he really needs more than one t-shirt that reads “My wife says I don’t listen to her or something like that.”
Mostly, we let each other be individual people, and don’t think of each other as extensions of ourselves. And we do kind things for each other. Most days I make Mr. Ashbury’s favourite meals even when I don’t feel like cooking; he rubs my feet, even when he’s not in the mood.
In the eyes of this old married lady and her beloved, meals and foot rubs are a pretty good deal.
Love,
Morgan
I uploaded a non-fiction pamphlet on Smashwords today. Considering my non-techie skills, it was easy. This is a quick guide to partytime fortunetelling, based on a series of articles I once did for Starcraft Horoscope Magazine. This is a new adventure for me!
The reason I mention it here is because this is a skill Claire the astrologer uses in my BookStrand Mudflat series.
Angelic Forecast ~ #97
As I watch, riveted, the antediluvian city appears more and more clearly. The columns seem to reach for the heavens, even from the depths of the sea. I stare at the series of three pyramids, at the round coliseum like buildings... at the meandering huge roads or walkways. There are also circular walkways that seem to ring the center of the city.
“Omygod!” I whisper. “THEY... the global elite, want to control of this area... that’s, that’s one reason for the oil catastrophe.”
“Yes,” my dragonshifter host answers.
The Cherub moves beside me, his presence overwhelmingly powerful and sweet. “If this center of Atlantean culture rises, yes, the New World Order or the New International Order, want absolute control.”
“I bet they’re already looting that underwater city.” I say, breathless with my knowing.
“There are underground tunnels to that particular city,” Mr. Dragonshifter tells me.
“So, those tunnels aren’t flooded, are they?”
“No,” the Heavenly One confirms.
“There’s already a small city beneath the ruins, isn’t there?” I ask.
~~~~~~

This week ~ BE PREPARED during this spin-everything-on-its-head time of the Solar Eclipse! Huge and small changes may smack you upside the head. This will occur on the world stage, in your communities and in your personal life. If you see those *changes* barreling down on you take preemptive action, those actions that direct your life toward its best course. Also! All of us looking out for one another will make a positive difference in the outcome of our lives.

The next several weeks is also a period, a dangerous window, where history is likely to repeat itself in a grand and ugly way. BE PREPARED. As it was before, so it is now, and every effort will be made to hide the truth. This event, as terrible as it might be, will be used to further the agenda of those on the dark side. Keep your focus on the light, on your own light within. Keep your focus on those you love and those who love you with their whole hearts.

During this period, this is the time to reawaken that love deep in your heart, the love that may have been lost due to those traumatizing situations everyone has gone through. Shower and express this love on those in your life who truly deserve it. Do not squander your precious love on those who behave like crazed swine.

Wednesday's Words for July 7, 2010

Except for a small, six by six area outside my back door, the entire property owned by the Ashburys in this small Southern Ontario town is hilly. To be more precise, our house is perched between two old river terraces. The front yard (all 8 feet of it) meets the sidewalk at about a 60 degree angle. Shortly after we moved in, Mr. Ashbury edged this and inset railroad ties to give the front yard the appearance, at least, of being level.

We have a front porch, wonderful for sitting on, one that is covered so when it rains, and winds permitting, we can sit out on it. Our house is also situated on a corner of two streets, neither of which sees much traffic.

Late last summer, as part of the “stimulus” spending our provincial government underwrote, crews were hired by the county to put accessible curbs in each of the four corners of our intersection. I didn’t know that’s what they were doing at the time, and I was a little curious why the curb next to our house wasn’t done.

When the crew had finished and left, a man from the public works department came to the door to inform me that the crew had been unable to do our curb because of the railroad ties.

He further told me that according to their records, our porch steps (leading from the top of the porch to the sidewalk) did not exist.

His contention was that a variance agreement had been signed, the steps did not appear on the documentation, so these steps must have been put in illegally.

He seemed to not believe me when I explained they had come with the house when we purchased it in 1992. The bottom line was, those steps would have to go, because the bottom step rested on the sidewalk, and the sidewalk had to be repaired. No hurry, this minor bureaucrat assured me last summer. As long as the job was done this year.

Our eldest said this would not be a problem, simple job, no sweat, and he and my beloved set this past Sunday as the day for demolition. The plan was quite simple. They arranged to borrow a small jack-hammer (which they both have experience using), and were confident that the old stairs—seven in all—would be gone, and the new wooden ones constructed (at the side of the porch instead of the front) in no time at all.

Beloved manned the jackhammer and turned it on. All in attendance had personal safety equipment, and stood back a respectful distance. Man, was that machine ever noisy. It didn’t bother me, but I can’t say the same for the neighbors across the street who had partied hearty until the wee hours the night before. But it was, after all, after 9 a.m.

The noise continued and I kept my eyes trained on the spot where jackhammer bit met concrete, as I waited to see that first, top step demolished. And I waited. And I waited. Smoke began to rise from the point of contact. Finally, concrete crumbled under the combined force of dedicated male and modern mechanical technology.

The debris gathered measured perhaps a half a cup.

Words were said by my beloved and our first born that are best left off these pages. “Now what?” I asked.

Well every good plan has a backup plan, in this case known as a sixteen-pound sledgehammer. The men took turns wailing on that first step. Conversation ebbed, and brows sweat. Finally the top step was destroyed. Not a hollow stair as everyone expected and assumed, but solid concrete, with round pieces of granite mixed in for good measure.

The men conferred, and set back to work, with the backup plan to the backup plan, which was to focus on the stairs that had to go: the two at the bottom on the sidewalk.

I may use the remaining four steps as shelves for flower boxes.

Love,
Morgan

Angelic Forecast ~ #96

I give Mr. Dragonshifter a smile. “We’ll have to discuss ‘your’ story later.”
With a gracious nod of acceptance, he gestures grandly toward a strange-looking... is it a screen? Grayish-blue swirls on the surface of the large, football-shaped object. It sets on a slim pedestal that reminds me of ancient Grecian architecture.
“You were in Greece? In the ancient times?” I ask, the words simply bursting out.
“Yes. Our people were present. Although, we resided in the mountainous areas and only consulted on matters.”
“Consulted on matters,” I repeat, moving closer to the object, which has now become cloudy, but is now morphing into a deep turquoise.
“Matters of political structuring and, yes, the building of certain temples.”
“Oh, that is fascinating. Oh,” I breathe out again. Before me on the football screen is what appears to be the underwater remains of a city, the one off Cuba that I’ve seen a few pictures of.
“Yes,” the Cherub answers my thoughts. “That is what you are viewing.”
“Is it about to be revealed for what it is?” I ask. Hope is a hard thing to let go of.

The following week will thunder and boom on the world stage, especially, and the world will be like a firecracker factory. Get ready. Those who enjoy playing with fire and lightning in a destructive manner will be exercising their power. And, they want to see everyone cower before them as more economic woes play out. In opposition, those who want the light of truth to shine for everyone and on all of us, will mount their own strike. It is wise to stand back, and only assist where you are able.

On a personal level, keep looking for the best way to take care of yourself and those you love. Animals, in general, will play a huge role in the future. If you are ‘good’ with animals begin looking for ways to include more animals in your life. And, if you can move to an area where pets, domestic animals and wild animals thrive, then do it. Now is the time. And, now is the time to join with others in creating a community of folks who include animals as a natural part of their lives.
